AN UNPARALLELED LEVEL

At the heart of the Zeus propulsion system is an innovative pod drive. For decades, pod drives have been used in commercial applications to increase efciency and maneuverability. Recognizing the benets to the recreational boater, we specially engineered a pod that in concert with our Quantum Series engines, SmartCraft connectivity, and a new breed of control technology makes boating more enjoyable than ever.

Zeus pods are independently steerable. The full force of each pods thrust is directed independently to achieve much greater efciency in maneuvering.

Zeus pods create horizontal thrust. The full power of the engines are used to drive the boat forward, unlike standard inboard shafts that push the boat upward.

The hydrodynamic shape of the Zeus pod creates much less drag than a shaft, strut, and rudder. By placing the propellers in the rear, we experience less form drag.

Counter-rotating propellers eliminate rotational losses, produce no side forces, and minimize cavitation. Additionally, increased blade area allows for larger gear ratios.

SAFER BY DESIGN > If the pod drive strikes debris, rear-facing propellers are protected by the pod gearcase and skeg. Additionally, by mounting the Zeus pod in a tunnel, the torpedo on the drive is the same depth as the keel. Most oating objects will be deected downward by the keel and skeg away from the propellers. Should the unit come into contact with a substantial object, the skeg is designed to shear below the torpedo, minimizing damage to the drive and costly repair bills. By offering a rear-facing pod drive mounted in a tunnel, we offer tremendous efciency improvement without sacricing safety.

OF SAFETY, CONTROL & BOATING ENJOYMENT

As a complete package with integrated exhaust, engine and accessories water system, trim tabs, steering, throttle and shift controls the Zeus drive requires signicantly less time to install than conventional inboards or comparable pod systems. Additionally, all materials in contact with seawater are either bronze or stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance. (shown without cover) SKYHOOK > With the touch of a button, our Skyhook feature maintains your vessel on a xed heading within a tight area, even in strong currents and windy conditions.

ENHANCED MANEUVERABILITY > Get performance more like a luxury sports car than the typical yacht. Each pod turns independently, resulting in much greater turning efciency and responsiveness. Reliable, responsive hydraulic power steers the pods and actuates the integrated trim tabs. Trim tabs are automated to improve performance and visibility during acceleration. The rear-facing pod with thru-hub exhaust can be steered through a large angle without rudder blowout. Counter-rotating propellers eliminate lateral forces, giving completely straight tracking. At the helm, a self-centering wheel, customizable steering response, and a power tilt wheel with two-person, two-position memory give a whole new meaning to the word cruise.

DOCKING WITHOUT FEAR > Never worry again about wind and current when you approach the dock. Our advanced joystick control system is incredibly intuitive and can be operated with a simple turn of the wrist. One hand controls it all, from sideways tracking, to spinning on a dime, to precise speed control. Whether at the dock or backing down on a blue marlin, the total authority and maneuverability is simply unmatched.

INFORMATION AT YOUR FINGERTIPS > With SmartCraft connectivity throughout the vessel, you have the ability to monitor and control a wide array of systems. From engine performance to generators, AC to navigation, never before has this level of integration been available to the recreational boater.

CLEAN, QUIET & MORE COMFORTABLE > Because Zeus drives utilize counter-rotating propellers and are mounted on large rubber grommets, gear noise and vibration are signicantly reduced for a quiet and comfortable ride. With a foundation of quiet and clean running Quantum engines, already low engine exhaust is nearly eliminated by venting the emission through the propeller hubs where the water ow takes it far back into the wake.

OF EFFICIENCY & POWER

SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE > Over the years, pod drives have delivered impressive performance with both forward-facing and rear-facing propellers. Which type of propeller is more efcient? Forward-facing propellers are exposed to undisturbed water, which can improve efciency; however, these propellers increase form drag, created by friction from water owing across the podso the faster the ow of water, the more drag occurs. Rear-facing propellers create less form drag. This trade-off between propeller efciency and increased form drag results in both types of propellers having nearly identical efciency. Our real gains in efciency over traditional inboards result from a decrease in overall drag, the creation of horizontal thrust, and the use of counter-rotating propellers. Our results are impressive: faster top speed, faster cruise speed, and dramatically improved fuel economy.
