Course title and credit points The course is titled: Leadership awards 3 credit points. 2. Decision and approval This course was approved by the Faculty of Management Sciences. The course descriptor applies from 2010-01-01. 3. Objectives To Understand Leadership concept and techniques for managing, controlling, and improving quality of organization and its people, Gain the information and skills needed to act in the role of leader and practice. 4. Contents The course is structured in 3 sections: 4.1 Leading change as a manager this section covers the leadership, customer, employee, organization, resistance. 4.2 Developing your associates and yourselfleadership competencies, coaching, teaching, mentoring, etc. 4.3 Managerial Leadership in actionCommunication, Managing up and across, borders & cultures, plan into action. 5. Aims and learning outcomes On completion of the course the student will: - be able to identify the role of leader and follower. - be able to understand organization and leaders perspective.. compare and contrast the various action techniques used in leadership management. to discuss the emerging tendencies toward global competitiveness and the role of the leader. describe the importance of developing a strategic plan for organization. 6. Generic skills The following generic skills are trained in the course: Presentation skills Information retrieval Analytical skills, Academic writing 7. Learning and teaching The teaching style is quite simple. The aim is to create a good-finding learning environment for students. We employ a number of different strategies in our learning model which will include the following: -provide a theoretical framework followed by practical application -learning by doing through real project work and business simulations -lectures, peer group-discussions and one to one student support -debate and discussion In other words we want to create an inspiring environment for students to want to learn about strategy. It will take a few things for that to happen: Some real strategic issues Free and open discussion, Students to be encouraged to be creative committed to letting go a few inhibitions and being an active participant. The course is taught in English. 8. Assessment and grading

9. Course evaluation The course coordinator is responsible for systematically gathering feedback from the students in course evaluations and making sure

that the results of these feed back are used into the development of the course. 10. Prerequisites Students accepted for the BBA/MBA Program in Business Administration (72 credit points) are eligible for the course. 11. Students who are unable to attend class should advise the instructor before the class. Failure to attend classes may result in a grade reduction. CELL PHONE AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY Turn off all cell phones prior to class. Students may not text or otherwise use electronic devices during class. Students receiving or sending electronic messages will be asked to leave the classroom for the duration of the lecture.
