CM Storm Xornet Firmware Pack is out!

Hi All, Just like for Spawn we created several new firmware versions tweaking the mouse sensor for LOD, angle snapping and some other paramters. You can find the Firmware Pack here: http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/p...t/&tab=support

What sensor does this mouse use? It looks just like the spawn. And with the windows 7 issues on the spawn I need a new mouse. Could this be it?

CM Storm Xornet Firmware Pack is out!

http://www.cmstorm.com/forum/showthread.php?3296-CM-Storm-Xorn...

There's no driver or application for this mouse? I just picked one up today and there's no options, heh also, there seems to be angle snapping on all the firmware version but in version V53 and V55 it doesn't say anything about reduced angle snapping. So do we only get reduced LOD with those 2 versions? What do I do if I want reduced LOD and reduced angle snapping? F/w Version Breakdown: V50 original release Firmware V51 reduced angle snapping V52 reduced angle snapping - recommended V53 reduced LOD V55 reduced LOD - recommended Based on our internal testing and beta trials we recommend Firmware v55 According to our testing it works best on black or white weave mousepads

I'm also interested in the specifics. What are the differences between these firmwares? Can we only have one or the other?

Re: CM Storm Xornet Firmware Pack is out!

The V70 feels like the original V50 (it has a very high LOD, after 250HZ/1000 DPI jitters on a black cloth pad). The V72 is UNUSABLE on black cloth (QcK) because it has a very-very low malfunction speed, on normal desktop usage it freaks out at faster movements, huuuuuge negative acceleration and after that the cursor isn't moving anymore At first I thought that something terrible happened after the firmware update, while drawing circles faster and faster, the mouse entirely stopped responding, WTF Very low LOD, 1-2CD. V75 works on the QcK at low speed, it skips above 1 m/s, I was able to reach it's malfunction speed several times, but I wasn't aware of, low LOD (cursor tracks at 1CD, doesn't moves on 2CD). Still testing, it has less jitter on 250 Hz/2000 DPI (but who uses that ?). After increasing the polling rate to 500 or 1000 Hz I notice some jitter that increases with the DPI, but I'm not an expert with this things. I have the feeling that the Xornet is a 250Hz mouse and the other polling rates are "funky" to say at least.

No problem I will do some tests with oterspace's MouseLogger and see what's going on with the perfect control speed and polling rate

CM Storm Xornet Firmware 75 is the man!

Xornet + Firmware 75 is flawless for me. I'm a medium-core gamer and I'm very picky about everything. Windows 7. Tested at: 500 hz and 1000 DPI. Pad: good old simple grey canvas, $1. Tested with Mouse Rate Checker 1.1b by Oliver Tscherwitschke, and with The MarkC Windows 7 Mouse Acceleration Fix's tool, the mouse is almost flawless at 500 hz and 1000 dpi - that's how I use it. I have an uber simple method to test a mouse. Just circle from the wrist real fast and the less perfect the mouse, the more the circle travels towards the left of the screen. So, the Xornet with firmware 75 is my dream came true, because it stays put so long that the flaw is only a matter of science and precise calculations. The "mouserate" checker shows a very constant 496 hz. So 500 hz is the most organically predictable setting of the mouse. And I add that it's perfect. This beats my old Logitech 500, 510, Microsoft Explorer 3.0, the Razer Lachesis, the Copperhead and anything I have ever used. I will play with 72 - 75 to see how much prediction is in between them, but 72 is rubbish anyway, at least on my $1 mat. I have a claw and fingertip grip and I can switch between them with the Xornet, always finding a confort position. Another dream came true. Buy this mouse men! It's uber cool!

analysed it with a spreadsheet editor. The procedure is pretty simple, just use mouse.log created by the MouseLog.exe and using this formula: Speed = (((Counts / cpi)*0.0254 m/inch)/(sample interval))*1000 The next step is to create a graph and be shocked by the results. Test setup Mouse: Xornet Firmware version: 75 Mouse pad: Qck (black)

I'm a casual gamer (BF3, 5-6 hours a week), but sometimes I couldn't say if BF3's crappy hit-detection or my mouse/pad combo was the culprit of the misplaced shots. As you see, the Xornet+75 fw+black pad leads to serious skipping above 0.8-0.9 m/s, after that is pure luck or a crap shot More interesting is the following graph, I moved my mouse in a slower manner (desktop usage):

After every 24-25 ms there's a spike directly proportional

with the speed... WTF Just for **** an giggles I tried raising the DPI, hoping that the PCS would be higher:

That's not much of an improvement...

So, I'm searching for a light coloured mouse pad and/or a new firmware. Too bad, that I'm living in Europe and it's difficult to buy an HandStands Grey Supermat, but probably it's easier than asking for a new firmware from CM Storm... I suggest to make a combo deal: if you buy a Xornet, then you'll receive a grey Supermat too!

I wrote them regarding this issue, the answer was: Dear Mr./Ms, Thank you for your inquiry. The latest firmware are available on our website: http://www.cmstorm.com/en/products/peripherals /Xornet/ We recommend you to use a other mousepad when it doesnt work right on your mouse pad.

Best regards, Michiel Bos Cooler Master Service Department In other words: @#$% &^%, why the @#$% should I bother with your @#$%ing problem. In another reply they said: Dear Customer,

Please download the attached V50 firmware for the Xornet and update to this version. This is the original firmware that should be the most stable, if you have any other issues please contact us again.

Best Regards,

Cooler Master Technical Support www.coolermaster.com So, the chances are slim to get another (maybe better) firmware
