WHAT SWORD TO CHOOSE

SHORTSWORD LONGSWORD

BLADE

HILT

Half of the battles advantage goes to a good sword. If allowed, grab a long sword and a short sword. Hold the long sword in the hand you use better. Long swords are usually pretty imsy. Short ones are sturdier. As a defensive person or if you were tall, the best alternative for you would be a short sword. A short, agile or aggressive person, would be better suited by a long sword. A quick person with good reexes would also get a short sword. The short ones are mighty convenient for defense, because each strike is short and can be changed quickly. Long swords, instead, are handy for a fast attack. Their length allows you to perform expert jabs. Both swords at the same time would be lethal.

WHEN AND HOW TO ATTACK

SLICE

BLOW

JAB

Always attack after your enemy does. When he/she least expects it, strike. Always aim for the chest to avoid injury. If your sword is imsy be extremely careful. If is bends even a little bit in an attack, it can act like a whip and hurts a great deal. A jab is when you send a straight strike towards your enemy with the tip of your sword pointing forward. A blow is a horizontal strike in which you move the edge of the blade from left to right (or right to left). A slice is begun by holding your sword vertically above your head and bringing it down as if your wrists and hands were made out of stone. DO NOT move them until you have made contact with your enemy or with anything else.

WHEN AND HOW TO ATTACK (Continued)

A good way of changing an attack begins with holding the sword in the gap between your index nger and thumb. Try to press these ngers together so the sword wont fall off. Spread your other ngers out as though they were a pancake. While still holding the sword, let it fall toward your open ngers and a bit to the front. Twist your wrist around until the sword is in upright position once again. A good attack sequence is to send two slanted slices and very, very quickly turn around. While in the turn do the attack changing procedure and end with a blow. If you are using two swords, attack lightly with the short sword and then surprise your rival with the long one.A good technique for attack is to make your wrist wobbly (but not too loose) so your attack is more uent.

TRICKS AND DODGES

SIDESTEP

DISARMING

The easiest trick is to send a horizontal blow. As soon as your blade makes contact with your opponents, move your toy sword back a bit and send another blow to your opponents stomach. An easy dodge is to make a sidestep. The only bad thing about the sidestep is that it only works with jabs and slices. Another easy dodge is rolling under your enemys jabbing or blowing arm. This dodge cannot be used under your opponents slice or while your rival is still because they might attack you. Another good trick is to make a slice, but before it touches the opposing sword, turn it into a blow. One of the hardest tricks is disarming. Lock your swords hilt with your opponents and twist it around. DO NOT let go of your sword. This twisting will loosen your enemys grip on the weapon. Throw your opponents sword out of their hand and you have practically won.

WHEN AND HOW TO DEFEND

SLICE DEFENSE BLOW DEFENSE JAB DEFENSE

Defense is one of the most important things in Foamy-Sword Fighting. To defend a jab, bring your sword down like a slice, only sideways. A slice can be defended by a horizontal move above your head, not unlike a jab, only in front of you. Defending a blow is quite different. Perform a jab only downward to block a blow. The best move to use after these defenses is an attempt to disarm. The twisting and turning could confuse the opponent a little. Then, being as careful as can be, whack your rivals sword. This might slightly stun him/her. After this, you are free to attack again.

An open space would be ideal for a battle because you have room to run around and dodge. If no such space is provided, choose an arena full of obstacles. Having throw-appropriate obstacles (ones that dont hurt) helps if you are in trouble. These obstacles make a good hiding place or a good defense system if you are in grave danger. If you are a strategic, person a good place for you would be an open space with a few obstacles. A more defensive person, instead, could do with lots of obstacles. Aggressive people would be served with no obstacles at all.

Where to Start a Battle

Good battle area.

WHEN TO BACK OFF

Backing off.

Backing off is a dangerous procedure. First, you could trip and fall. Second, you could back into a wall and give your adversary a better chance at beating you. Be sure not to back off while attacking, because your attack would be of no use. Every step, try to steal the quickest glance possible, without losing concentration. Try to avoid losing your balance or you would fall and might get injured. After a blocked strike, your condence might be raised so attack to stop backing off. This recovering procedure is simple. Just block a strike, attack however is easiest from your position and send many other attacks uently. This will make you go forward and your enemy will have to back off.Try to keep your enemy backing off as though ushering a mad dog into an exercise pen.
