Various Uses Of D.I.P

In Medical Field :-

Medical imaging is the technique and process used to create images of the human body (or parts and function thereof) for clinical purposes (medical procedures seeking to reveal, diagnose, or examine disease) or medical science (including the study of normal anatomy and physiology). Although imaging of removed organs and tissues can be performed for medical reasons, such procedures are not usually referred to as medical imaging, but rather are a part of pathology. As a discipline and in its widest sense, it is part of biological imaging and incorporates radiology (in the wider sense), nuclear medicine, investigative radiological sciences, endoscopy, (medical) thermography, medical photography, and microscopy (e.g. for human pathological investigations). Measurement and recording techniques which are not primarily designed to produce images, such as electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG), electrocardiography (EKG), and others, but which produce data susceptible to be represented as maps (i.e., containing positional information), can be seen as forms of medical imaging.

In Remote Sensing:-

Remote sensing is the acquisition of Physical data of an object without touch or contact. Earth observation satellites have been used for many decades in a wide field of applications. With the advancements in sensor technology, earth imaging is now possible at an unprecedented level of detail. Imaging spectrometers and thermal multispectral systems acquire detailed spectroscopic information of physical properties of the earth's surface. Dynamic processes can now be studied with interferometric systems. SAR interferometry, laser altimetry and high-resolution imaging allow a very detailed, three-dimensional reconstruction of the earth surface.

In Forensic Lab:-

Processed images are used for many purposes by the forensic science community. They can yield information not readily apparent in the original image, which can assist an expert in drawing a conclusion that might not otherwise be reached. This addresses image processing and related legal considerations in the following three categories: Image enhancement Image restoration Image compression.

In Transportation:-

This is a new area that has just been developed in recent years. One of the key technological progresses is the design of automatically driven vehicles, where imaging systems play a vital role in path planning, obstacle avoidance and servo control. Digital image processing has also found its applications in traffic control and transportation planning, etc.

In Photography:-

This is process of producing image from using electronic sensor to record what is observed. It has gained greater interest in professionals and many people. For e.g.:- Artists record natural or man made objects using cameras to express their feelings.

In Military and Defence:-

This area has been overtaken recently few years ago. Existing applications consist of object detection tracking the three dimensional direction of territory. For example any subject producing heat at night can be detected using infrared imaging sensors. This technique is mostly used in battle fields.
