The IDU is shipped with a DC power port connector. The pinout is as follows:
-48V
PS Return
Figure 8 SkyLink CG Power Connector
The IDU does not have a power on-off switch. Once power is connected to the IDU the unit will turn on. Therefore, it is recommended to verify 48 VDC on the power supply connector prior to connecting to the IDU. Connect the IDU power cable to the 48 VDC power supply. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive voltmeter probe on pin 1 (-48V) of the DC connector and the negative probe on pin 4 (PS Return). The connector screw heads may be used as probe points. Turn on the power supply and confirm the voltmeter reads between 44 VDC and 52 VDC. Adjust the power supply output voltage or change the connections at the power supply to achieve this reading.

10/100BaseT NMS/LAN B Port o o o o o o o Recommended method Supports Local and Remote Configuration Configuration via Web GUI or Telnet
RS232 Serial Port Interface Serial cable, such as Cisco type console cable required Supports local configuration only Configuration via HyperTerminal Useful when IP address of IDU is not known
The following section addresses configuration via the Web GUI using the Ethernet NMS port only. Configuration via Telnet or HyperTerminal is CLI based. Contact Cielo Networks for additional information regarding CLI configuration. The connection to the SkyLink IDU is made via a CAT-5 Ethernet cable for Web GUI. The SkyLink CG IDU ships with in-band management enabled. Connect to either the LAN A or LAN B ports. The SkyLink CG is shipped with two default IP addresses:
Table 6 SkyLink CG IDU Default IP Address

Page 21
Rev 02/11
Cielo Networks recommends that users leave the Secondary IP address at the default value (10.10.10.10 /24) for all deployed SkyLink CG IDUs. This allows the field engineer to use the Secondary IP address if the primary address is unknown. Alternatively, customers can change the secondary IP address. Cielo Networks does recommend that customers use the same secondary IP address consistently for all deployed SkyLink CG IDUs. The Ethernet port of the installers PC used for configuration must be on the same subnet 192.168.0.x (x = 3254) or 10.10.10.x (x = 29, 11254). Launch a web browser and enter the IP address of the SkyLink CG IDU or click on the link below http://192.168.0.1 or http://10.10.10.10

IP Address Configuration
The instructions listed in this section of the manual are based on in-band management configuration of the IDUs (default setting). For out-of-band management configuration options please refer to the document SkyLink CG Management IP Address Configuration. In order to communicate to the remote IDU both the local and remote side IP address have to be configured in both SkyLink CG IDUs.
IDU A
IDU B
Select the IP Tab for the Address Page. Primary IP/Mask: Update to the deployed networks specific requirements. Secondary IP/Mask: o The secondary IP address provides a backup IP address to be used for access. o The secondary IP address is only recognized on the local IDU connected to the users laptop. o Cielo Networks recommends leaving the value at default. o If the IP address conflicts with the installed network Cielo recommends changing all deployed SkyLink CG IDUs Secondary IP address to the same value. Gateway IP: IP address of gateway router. Remote Side IP: IP address of far side IDU. FTP/USB Server: No change required Proxyarp: Leave unchecked. Once apply is selected the changes will be written to W0 memory (start-up memory) followed by an IDU reboot. Update your laptop IP Address accordingly with the new SkyLink CG IP Address values.
Page 24

Note the user can move the cursor over the remote terminal on the top of the GUI screen to hyperlink to the remote IP address (shown in lower left corner of GUI).
4.4
Radio Link Configuration is required for both the local and remote SkyLink CG IDUs. Cielo recommends customers configure the IDUs in a staging area prior to deployment. Select the Radio tab. The top sheet under the Radio tab is Parameters. The following values have to be changed to the specific values for the microwave link. See Figure 16
Setting o Local Only Changes are applied to the local IDU only. For initial IDU configuration with no connectivity to the far side IDU this can be chosen. o Local + Remote Necessary when link is operational and applying any changes to parameters with a 1) next to the name. TX Frequency o Set the TX frequency for the link per the FCC channel assignment. o The TX Frequency must be within the range of the connected ODU. TXBand(T/R) shows the TX frequency range supported If the band shown is not the expected frequency range change the ODU to the specific one defined for the site. RX Frequency o Set the RX frequency for the link per the FCC channel assignment.

For a deployed link, change the remote side first and then the local side IDU. Note if changing from design type 303 to 301 the bandwidth throughput available over the radio link is typically less. If user bandwidth requirements exceed the radio link bandwidth the far side NMS may be unreachable due to excess user bandwidth. Increase the throughput of the link by increasing the modulation Actual/Modulation configuration. o Must select setting of local+remote to update remote IDU.

Rev 02/11
The capacity shown at the top of the page shows the bandwidth available across the radio link TDM Traffic (T3 or T1) is first subtracted from the bandwidth if module is installed and enabled. Ethernet bandwidth o Change Speed value as required for the link. o The value in the Speed box can be higher than the radio link bandwidth available. o Alternatively the Speed can be less than the bandwidth available to limit user throughput. Ethernet Interface o Port page allows the user to change from the default configuration of Auto Negotiation (ANEG) to a fixed port setting. o LAN box indicates the port negotiation. o If Manual Setting is selected the user must ensure the connecting Ethernet port is also set for Manual operation BER o A radio link BER test can be run on the radio link using un-allocated bandwidth. o Cielo Networks recommend that 2 Mbps of bandwidth be allocated for BER testing. BER Test results shown on the Count page o Mode options allows the user the type of BER test performed.

Save Configuration
Important Step
Select Write W0 on upper right corner of the SkyLink CG GUI. Memory Bank 0 is the boot up configuration. Failure to save the configuration may result in the link becoming unavailable if power is temporarily lost of the system is rebooted. Alternatively, other operational configurations can be saved to Memory Bank 1, 2, or 3. To run the link at these other configurations select R1, R2, or R3. Go to the Maintenance page for these options.
4.6
Link Alignment
RSL can be calculated using the following formula: RSL (dBm) = PTX + GTX ANT LPath + GRX ANT Where: PTX is the transmitter output power (in dBm) GTX ANT is the gain of the transmit antenna (in dB) GRX ANT is the gain of the receive antenna (in dB) LPath is the Path loss, defined by: LP (dB) = 96.9 + 20log10(F*D) Where: F is the Frequency in GHz; D is the Distance of path in miles
The microwave radio link should be aligned to the RSL value defined for the hop.
The ODU has a BNC port that provides a voltage that relates to the RSL of the link. Connect a digital voltmeter to the BNC port during the alignment process. The following table defines the relation between RSL and the ODU BNC voltage measurement:
