Awakening a Love for Christ in the Heart of Richmond
May 5, 2013 The Sixth Sunday of Easter 10:55 a.m.
O sing to the LORD a new song; sing to the LORD, all the earth! Sing to the LORD, bless His name; tell of His salvation from day to day. For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; Our God is to be feared above all gods. Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; Come into His presence and tremble before Him, all the earth! For the Risen LORD comes to judge all nations. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with His truth. ALLELUIA!
HYMN 423 (Blue Hymnal) Jesus Shall Reign Whereer the Sun
Duke Street
PRAYER OF CONFESSION Almighty and heavenly Father, In Christ Jesus You bore the burden of our sin, suffering the pain of death, and rising from the dead to new life. But we confess that we have taken Your grace for granted. We rejoice in Your Resurrection, but divert our eyes from the Cross. We proclaim the mercy of Your forgiveness, but disregard its cost to You. We celebrate the blessing of new life in Christ, but continue old habits that keep our Selves on the throne. Lord, have mercy upon us, and forgive us our sins, we pray. Melt our hard hearts with the brilliance of Your glory; open our eyes to the sins we ignore; and spark in us a longing for holiness; that we may truly repent of self-serving ways, and seek to serve You in newness of life; through the power of Your Holy Spirit, and in the name of Jesus, Your risen Son, we pray. ASSURANCE OF PARDON EASTERTIDE ALLELUIA
(All sing the Alleluia after the organ introduction.)

Christ the Lord is risn again, Christ hath broken evry chain. Hark, angelic voices cry, singing evermore on high, Alleluia! He who gave for us his life, who for us endured the strife, is our Paschal Lamb today; we too sing for joy, and say Alleluia! He who bore all pain and loss comfortless upon the cross, lives in glory now on high, pleads for us, and hears our cry. He who slumbered in the grave is exalted now to save; now through Christendom it rings that the Lamb is King of kings. Alleluia! Thou, our Paschal Lamb indeed, Christ, thy ransomed people feed; take our sins and guilt away: let us sing by night and day.
