Jewish Couple Reunited after many Hardships By: Rylands Mathieux


Holocaust survivors from the auschwitz-birkenau concentration camp are reunited after several years of separation. Vladek and Anja Spiegelman were to be married before the holocaust but their wedding was delayed because they were found by Nazis. As you may already know the Nazis sent the couple to a concentration camp. The camp was Auschwitz-Birkenau. Vladek was sent to Auschwitz. While Anja was sent to Birkenau. They were forced to survive on their love for each other, and their desire to meet again. After the war they found each other in Poland their homeland. When they did they were sobbing endlessly. Vladek and Anja say they will have a wedding very soon and already planned to have two children

RM: Hello Art, what was your childhood like without any siblings? AS: Well, Rylands I had a brother named Richieu but he died before I was even born. My parents always said if he was still alive he would have behaved better than me. RM:Do you think you would have survived during the Holocaust? AS:Yes, if my father and mother can do it so can I. RM:What made you decide to depict humans as animals? AS:I wanted people to be able to tell the difference between certain ethnicities? RM: Do you think your father deserves better than Mala? AS: It dosent matter to me as long as he leaves me alone. RM:If your mother was still alive, would you make a seperate book about her? AS:I would try and see what I could do. RM:What angers you most about racism during the holocaust? AS:Some of the were still biased just like the Nazis.
