INTRODUCTION CODES STATEMENT OF THE PROJECT LOADS ON THE STRUCTURE OBJECTIVE OF STRUCTURAL DESIGN DESIGN AND ANALYSIS REFERENCES
INTRODUCTION
project is based on the design and analysis of the multi-storied building.
Analysis Notation Our
CODES
z IS-456:2000
:DESIGN CODE FOR RCC STRUCTURES :CODE FOR DEAD LOADS :CODE FOR IMPOSED LOADS :CODE FOR WIND LOADS
1.Utility of building : Residential buildng z 2. No of storeys : G+5 z 3.Shape of the building: Rectangular z 4.No.of staircases : 6 nos z 5.Type of walls : Brick wall

Geometric details : Ground Floor : 9.0 MFloorFloor Height : 3.0 M Height of Plinth: 0.6 M above G.L Depth of Foundation:2 M below G.L
Material details : Concrete Grade : M25 Grade of steel : HYSD REINFORCEMENT of Grade Fe415 Bearing Capacity of Soil : 200 KN/M2 Type Of Construction : R.C.C framed structure
Dead loads
zInvolves
Imposed loads
zImposed
also known live loads zLoad over the floor i.e. load of persons it is calculated as 0.2 kN/m2 zThis load is applied over the length of structure
Wind loads
z Wind z Wind
is air in motion
loads are calculated according to IS:875(part 3) of wind and exposure are applied in the directions as required
z Intensity
Load combinations
zThe
structure should be analysed for combination of loads as in practice we have number of loads in various directions act zSome of the combinations to be checked are z1.5(DL+LL) z1.5(DL+WL)
The notation adopted throughtout the work is same as in IS 456-2000 ASSUMPTION IN DESIGN Using partial safety factors for loads in accordance with clause 36.4 of IS 456-2000 Partial safety factor for material in accordance with clause 36.4.2 IS 456-2000 is taken as 1.5 for concrete and 1.15 for steel Using partial safety factors in accordance with clause 36.4 of IS 456-2000 combination of load (D.L +L.L) 1.5 (D.L +L.L +W.L) 1.2
Density of materials used MATERIAL i) Plain concrete ii) Reinforced iii) Flooring material (c.m) iv) Brick masonry v) Fly ash
Density 24.0 KN/m3 25.0 KN/m3 20.0KN/m3 19.0KN/m3 5.0KN/m3 3.0KN/m2 3.0KN/m2 3.0KN/m2
LIVELOADS: In accordance with IS 875-86 i) Live load on slabs = ii) Live load on passage = iii Live load on stairs =
Structural design
For slabs,Depth is 130 mm provided & min depth is 90mm Factored Load on slab is 12Kn/m For beams, after calculations are done.the Dimensions of beam is 230*350mm Factored load on beam is 15.87Kn/m
Shape of column is Rectangular z For columns, the dimension of column is 230*500mm z Factored load on column 1090.10KN
z
For footings, the bering capacity of soil is 200Kn/m2 z To provide the dimension of footing is 1.5m*2.7m
ANALYSIS
z Analysis
is done using STAAD PRO developed by BENTLEY z Once the loads and load combinations are assigned to the structure, analysis is to be done z Analysis is done for RCC structure
RCC analysis
z
Code is assigned as IS:456-2000 The parameters are assigned to the structure Commands to be given are

Conclusions
Staad pro become more and more critical in the analysis of engineering & scientific problems z This facilities for the implementations of more effective & professional engineering software z It should be affordable to promote their wide spread usage amongst civil engg at a global scale
