METHOD STATEMENT FOR CCTV SYSTEM


1. Purpose
This methodology covers the procedure for the installation of CCTV System in accordance with the specifications, applicable standards contract documents and Electrical specifications Part B of CCTV system.

2. Scope
The method statement describes the method to be followed for the installation of CCTV System which was submitted and got approved via material submittal no: SK/CN/ 06/001/STS-0900/015 and confirms to relevant specifications, documents.

3. Delivery and Storage


1. Receive the approved material from the supplier, and check against the ordered, type, quantity and specification to ensure the material is exactly according to the submittal/sample. 2. Store the CCTV cameras, wire & other devices in the designated storage area as per manufacturers recommendation. 3. The storage area must be free from dust and material should be kept fully packed to avoid any damages. 4. Take proper care while moving and handling the above materials. 5. Mark or label damaged or incorrect material and remove the damaged material from the storage area immediately.

4. Inspection of Materials
1. The project QA/QC Engineer will inspect the received material and make sure that the delivered materials are as per the approved material submittal/sample. 2. After inspection by CSCEC project QA/QC, inspection request, along with QA/QC checklist will be sent to the consultant for further checking and approval. 3. After consultants approval, the material/equipment will be ready for installation.

4. Every batch of material delivered to the site should be offered to the consultant for inspection and further approval.

5. Installation procedure
5.1 Installation of CCTV System Cables 1. Check the routing of cables against approved shop drawings. 2. Check the approved shop drawings and approved materials to the specifications. 3. Prepare all necessary tools, equipment and materials i.e. pulling wires in sufficient quantity. 4. Pull cables continuously without cutting or splicing except at the cameras, magnetic door. 5. When pulling cables, one person from the starting point shall feed the cable into the conduit to help avoid tension on the cable and damage to the cables insulation. 6. Arrange cables inside in a tidy manner and secure with nylon cable ties. CCTV cables to be segregated from electrical cables. 7. Cables shall be properly terminated in the panel and devices after continuity and insulation resistance testing and/or any rectification has been completed 5.2. Installation of Cameras a) Install junction box above ceiling tile at the back of Cameras as per approved shop drawings and make holes through the box and ceiling for the passage of cable for termination at the Cameras. b) Install Camera at the soffit of false ceiling as per the approved shop drawings. c) Gland the cables to the junction box and to the metallic cover of the box embedded in roof slab. d) If metallic flexible conduit will be used, then it shall be connected to the metallic cover of box embedded in slab and to the junction box at detector side by means of connectors. The cables then will pass through this conduit and junction box and then to the detector. The junction box cover can now be installed.

e) For Cameras directly installed on the ceiling soffit, junction box with hole at the back shall be directly screwed to the fixing lugs of box embedded in roof slab. f) Camera shall be fixed to this junction box and make it ready for terminations. 5.3 installation of CCTV System Equipment a) Assemble all loose accessories /components inside CCTV matrix as per manufacturers recommendations. b) Provide necessary anchor bolts and mounting brackets and install devices/equipment as per manufacturers recommendations. c) Install the required racks on the walls. d) Ensure devices / equipment alignment, levelling and mounting height correctness. e) All wires / cables including incoming / outgoing cables in the control panel shall be identified by marking. f) The system specialist will carry out electrical testing and commissioning which will be submitted to consultant later on.

1. 2. 3. Safety precautions to be strictly followed during installation, testing as well as charging of any electrical equipment. All appropriate safety protective gear, i.e. helmet, safety shoes, hand gloves, goggles, etc. should be worn by workmen. Check the electrical connections if you are using any electrically operated machine and make sure that the connections are done properly as per the safety regulations. Wear the safety belt while working on a scaffolding or step ladders at high levels. Work site should be kept clean and tidy and ensure the same after the work is completed. Adequate lighting and ventilation should be provided in work area. The safety matrix is attached. Approved By,
