Summary:
The United Kingdom (UK) consists of a collection of islands which are located off the northwestern coast of Europe between the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea. The United States of America is located on the continent of North America. The U.S. borders on Canada to the north, and Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico to the south. On the east coast, the U.S. is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west coast it is bordered by the Pacific Ocean. Australia is a continent and a country in the Southern Hemisphere, lying to the south of Southeast Asia, and dividing the Indian and South Pacific Oceans. The total area of the United Kingdom (UK) is approximately 244,820 square kilometers (94,526 square miles), the United Kingdom (UK) occupies a slightly smaller area than the state of Oregon (USA). In July of 2011, the population of the United Kingdom (UK) was estimated to be 62,698,362 people. United States of America (USA) has a total area of 9,629,091 square kilometers (3,717,792 square miles). The United States (USA) population is 313,847,465 people so the United States has the largest population between UK and Australia. Australia is about the same size as the United States. The total area of Australia is 7,686,850 square kilometers (2,967,892 square miles). Australia's population grew in the year ended June 2011 to 22,620,600 people. The United Kingdom (UK) is divided into 4 states: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. London is the capital city of the United Kingdom (UK) and it is located in southeastern England. The United States of America (USA) is a federal constitutional republic made up of 50 states (48 continental states, Alaska and Hawaii the two newest states). The capital city of USA is located in Washington, D.C. (District of Columbia), which is located on the East Coast almost midway between Maine and Florida. Australia is divided into 6 states: New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. The capital city of Australia is Canberra; it is located in the southeast corner of the nation and lies approximately halfway between the 2 largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne. The United Kingdom (UK) landscape is very varied, ranging from the Grampian Mountains of Scotland to the lowland fens of England which are at or below sea level in places. Scotland and Wales are the most mountainous parts of the UK. A ridge of hills, the Pennine, runs down the centre of northern England. Many coastal areas are low-lying, especially in the east and south of England. These include the wetlands of the Somerset levels that regularly flood during heavy rain. Most of the UK is made up of gently rolling hills with isolated areas of high ground such as Dartmoor in the south-west of England or the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. The United State (USA) landscapes are as varied as one

would expect such a vast region to be. Mountain ranges run through both the eastern and western portions of the United States, with prairies and farmland composing much of the central part of the country. Australia has large areas of grasslands, used primarily for sheep and cattle ranches. Australia also has some mountainous areas and plateaus scattered throughout the country. The Blue Mountains, on the south-eastern end of Australia, get their name from the blue haze caused by oil droplets given off from the eucalyptus trees. As an island, Australia also has many beautiful coastal beaches. The climate in the United Kingdom (UK) is called temperate maritime. This means that it is mild with temperatures not much lower than 0C in winter and not much higher than 32C in summer. July and August are normally the warmest month in England. Around the coasts, February is normally the coldest month, but inland there is little to choose between January and February as the coldest month. The United States of America (USA) covers a large region, stretching from east to west across six time zones and the country has a varied climate. California, on the west coast of the US, has a pleasant, Mediterranean climate, and the Pacific Northwest Coast has more of a maritime climate, with cooler summers and mild winters, influenced by westerly winds. The central part of the US has extreme temperature variations and a continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. The eastern central US tend to be more humid, while the western central US is semiarid. The east side of the country has a continental climate caused by air masses moving from west to east, with hot summers and a prevalence of tornadoes in the Mississippi River area. Florida has the warmest winters on the eastern seaboard. Much of Australia has a continental climate. The temperatures get hot during the day, and then drop considerably at night. Australia is also very arid, getting very little rain. The United Kingdom (UK)s possible economics activities/position is farming. It is includes cereals, oilseed, potatoes, and vegetables. The United States of America (USA)s possible economics activities/position is agriculture. It has traditionally been the chief economic activity in USA. USA is also rich in minerals, including petroleum, natural gas, coal, iron ore, nickel, gold, copper, emeralds, and platinum. Australia's possible economics activities/position are mining and farming. Mining includes bauxite, coal, copper, gold and iron ore. Most of the land is too dry for planting crops, although some areas do grow sugarcane, grapes and wheat. The grape vineyards help to support a growing wine industry. Australia is probably best known for its sheep farming. Large numbers of sheep are raised for their wool and meat. There are also some cattle ranching to provide meat.
