Submitting a new Book Proposal

By completing this form, you provide us with the information needed to make an informed decision on your project idea. Please email your completed form to the address above. You will probably be asked to submit a draft chapter at a later date. 1. Working Title This should describe the contents as explicitly as possible, and include the key words for electronic searches: 2. Why is it needed? 3.4 How long will it take you to write it? 3.5 How quickly will your book need to be updated (e.g. every 4 years)?

4. Extent How many words do you expect the manuscript to be? (One page of A4 double-spaced type is approximately 320 words)

5. Market 5.1 For which professional groups is the book intended? 5.2 In which way(s) will the book be used: for course study, in the practice, for academic work? 5.3 Do you think it will sell internationally, or be of particular interest in particular countries and why? 5.4 If you know, provide market size in the different countries, for example membership numbers with a particular association in the field/profession. 5.5 Will the book be appropriate for course adoption? If so, which courses? Please indicate if you teach on these courses. 6 Contents

6.1 Please list the contents of the book, chapter by chapter. Indicate number of word and illustrations for each chapter. 6.2 Please provide a brief description of the contents of each chapter in no more than 10 lines, either in the form of a synopsis or by listing headings and subheadings: 6.3 If the book is to be edited, please list the names and current positions of the contributors you intend to approach, indicating which chapters they will be writing (We would advise you not to approach them formally at this stage, other than just tentatively checking if there is interest): 7 Illustrative material

7.1 Will the project contain tables or graphs, if so approximately how many? 7.2 Will it contain drawings? How many will be complex drawings, e.g. anatomy or physiology? How many will be simpler drawings, e.g. outline of the body in different postures? We will consider colour drawings only if necessary for the understanding of a concept or for a particular promotional need. If these are likely to be required, indicate how many and why?

7.3 Will you need to include black and white photographs? If so, approximately how many? We only include colour in exceptional circumstances, but if you feel they are essential, please say so here and why. 7.4 Will video clips be required to demonstrate techniques or other? If so, please specify how these will be of use to the reader. How many clips and how long (in minutes) will each clip be? Will you prepare and provide these yourself?

8. Competitors 8.1 What other books are available in this area? Sample chapter If you are able at this stage to provide a sample chapter of the book, please attach one. Review of your proposal Please provide the names and emails of at least two individuals qualified to peer review your manuscript if required. We will also use our own reviewers and this will be a confidential process. Please note that the depending on the availability of appropriate reviewers, the reviewing process may take up to 6 weeks, but we will do our best to get back to you with feedback before then.
