The following format is to be used in planning for group time. Turn one copy into your mentoring teacher and one
copy to me-one week ahead of time.
1) Transition to Group Area (rug area): Sing bring your feet to the rug and sit on your bottoms.

story)
A puppy that is always late coming home one night finds there is no dessert for him.
(Visit the library to choose an age appropriate book. You can place other books in library for children to use during free
or self-selection choice time. Do not use book from your classroom.
1) Dose anybody remember what the sing say at the end of the story?
Transition out of Activity I will pretend the dog is whispering to me and telling who is ready to go activity.

Plot: A puppy that is always late coming home one night finds there is no dessert for him.
Age group you would recommend for this book: 3-6 Years Old
1. PRE-STORY ACTIVITY –“ATTENTION GETTING” ACTIVITY: Choose one from the following list: Finger Play,
or Finger Play with Props, or Flannel Board Finger Play: Puppet
2. INTRODUCTORY COMMENT: (A comment is recommended. If you ask a question, you have to be prepared
responses.) For this lesson plan, use an introductory comment: I wonder what the poky little puppy is about?
SHOW? Can you show me how the puppies dog the hole?
WHAT WOULD YOU DO? What would you do if your puppy kept on getting out?
6, TRANSITION ACTIVITY (to next activity): Use your finger play with props to dismiss a few children at a time.
Describe how you will do this. Make it short and fun! I will pretend the dog is whispering to me and telling who
is ready to go activity.
