3:01 pm on Friday; a two-letter-grade deduction if submitted at any time on Saturday; a three-letter-grade
deduction if submitted on Sunday. Your assignment will not be accepted after 3:00 pm on Sunday. NO
EXCEPTIONS.

German Unification Presentations.
Tomorrow, we’ll discuss nationalism during this period. The aide in our discussion, think about those
things that define your national heritage: symbols, songs, literature, law, historic figures, &c. Come to
class with those things in mind and be prepared to discuss them with the rest of the class. You may bring
something to show and discuss, if you wish.

Italian unification – compare and contrast Italian unification with German unification. What was the
difference between Garibaldi and Bismarck? In what ways was their processes of unification similar? In
what ways were they different? – 10 points.
