Letter of Recommendation for John Hacker

It is indeed an honor to submit this letter of recommendation on behalf of Mr. John Hacker, Social Studies Teacher at the Collegiate Academy of Mathematics, Science & Technology, a Self-Governing Academy within the Detroit Public Schools. Mr. Hacker represents all that is refreshing and new in public education today. For the past year, I have had the privilege of knowing such a dynamic change agent. His fervor and ardor for educating todays youth has not only been inspiring but contagious. He is innovative and creative in his thinking, always probing for the most unconventional methods to educate his students. This out of the box thinking has been motivating for the students, giving them the confidence to develop goals and dreams, as well as the desire to be successful in all of their endeavors. Mr. Hackers instructional skills are multiple and commendable. In his role as a Social Studies teacher, he quickly recognized success for students comes to those teacher who develop nurturing relationships with students; who not only know the academic content, but who understand its delivery must be multifaceted to meet the varied learning styles and academic deficiencies of students; who recognize the importance of creating and implementing a well-constructed plan; and who creates a well-balanced learning environment for students by developing a sound system of operations & logistics. Mr. Hackers teaching philosophy is one that embraces challenge, yet encourages collaboration and it is because of his success in these areas, that he is revered as one of the most knowledgeable and respected new teachers in the school. Mr. Hacker is methodical and logical in his thinking and works ingeniously to define new strategies and initiatives to bring life to educational processes that are considered exemplary and revolutionary. He uses an assertive rather than an aggressive leadership approach. His genuine, yet cajoling management style has consistently allowed him to establish and maintain effective working relationships with parents, students, administration, as well as his professional colleagues. It is Mr. Hackers genuine comportment, application of effort, and innovative spirit that leaves indelible marks in the lives of the people the touches.
