A. COURSE INFORMATION Course Code Course Title Credit Units B. COURSE OBJECTIVES AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Objectives: This advanced level course is offered to students from the Schools of Management and
Communication. It aims to enhance students writing, reading, listening and speaking skills in academic, social and occupational contexts. It will also develop the students soft skills. Apart from that, it will also hone analytical and evaluative skills, and develop self-esteem and resilience.

LSP 403 BAHASA INGGERIS PERNIAGAAN DAN KOMUNIKASI (BUSINESS AND COMMUNICATION ENGLISH)

Learning Outcomes: At the end of the course, students should be able to:
(i) comprehend written and oral business and communication texts as well as answer text-based questions of different levels of difficulty; (ii) practise language skills; (iii) conduct indepth discussions on contemporary issues; (iv) identify main and supporting ideas in texts; (v) evaluate opinions critically and provide oral and written responses; (vi) write essays and reports; (vii) write job application letters, resums and prepare for job interviews; (viii)apply language skills in analysing issues pertaining to sustainability; (ix) acquire soft skills so as to function effectively in the social and occupational spheres.

COURSE EVALUATION

COURSE WORK (50 %) Mode a) Individual Oral Presentation (15%) ( i) Each student will be given 10 minutes. (Presentation: 5 - 7 minutes + answering questions from the floor: 3 - 5 minutes) ii) Topics will be vetted by the teacher. iii) Presentations will be assessed based on fluency and coherence; lexical resource; grammatical range and accuracy; and pronunciation. iv) Students will be penalised for reading. b) Writing (15%) i) Students are to write an essay of 350 words in 50 minutes. ii) Essays will be assessed based on coherence and cohesion; lexical resource; and grammatical range and accuracy. c) Job Interview (10%) i) Teachers will fix an appointment for the interview which will be held outside class time. ii) Students are to submit their job advertisement, resum and job application letter 1 week before the interview. Duration of interview: 10 minutes d) Listening Comprehension (10%) Week 14 Students listen to a recording and answer questions based on it.
