About the Yagnams

Yagas and Yagnams: Yaga is the offering of ghee, rice, rice pudding, fruits etc. to the fire (Agni) in the fire pit (Homa Kundam), constructed per guidelines laid out in the shastras, to Indra, Varuna, Navagraha or one's favorite deity to propitiate the deities and for obtaining desired material benefits. The details of such Yaga are laid out in the 'Brahmana' section of the Yajur Veda. Though 'Yaga' and 'Yagnam' are sometimes used synonymously, 'Yagnam' has a deeper meaning than 'Yaga'. Yagnam includes the 'selfless' performance of Yagas seeking only the overall welfare of the people and the community at large. Yagas are, and can be, performed for the specific attainment of material benefits. The selfless performance of Yagas for Loka Kshema and Loka Kalyana and the spiritual faith and journey towards the realization of the Supreme Being qualify such Yagas as Yagnams. Sri Maharudra Mahayagnam: Rudra is another name for Lord Siva. References to Him as Lord Rudra Siva are fairly common. Sri Rudram (also known as Namakam) and Chamakam (so called due to the repeated occurrences of the words cha and mey) are among the sacred mantras of Yajur Veda. These mantras occur in the fourth Canto (Kanda) of the Taittiriya Samhita of Yajur Veda. Eleven recitations of Sri Rudram followed by one recitation of Chamakam is called Ekadasa Rudram. Eleven Ekadasa Rudram makes one Laghu Rudram. Eleven Laghu Rudram makes one Maharudram. And Eleven Maharudrams make one Athi Rudram. For the Maharudram, 121 Ritwiks are generally involved in chanting the Ritwiks) chanting Sri Rudram resulting in 1,331 chantings of Namakam and 121 chantings of Chamakam. For the Maharudram, Rudra Homam is performed by 12 Priests/Ritwiks. The homam starts immediately following the conclusion of the third round of chanting and continues to conclude with 11 Homams. Vasordhara, Krama Archana and Kalasa Abhishekam are then performed. Chandi Yagnam: The Worship of Goddess Chandi highlights the importance of feminine energy and this is reflected in many of its spiritual worships. Goddess Shakthi is the embodiment of all the divine forces and she is the Mother of the Universe. She is the savior of her children on the earth and protects them from all the evil. The Goddess had attained various forms to kill the Asuras (Demons) who were torturing the humans and the Celestials (Devas). Devi Mahatmyam talks about the importance of Chandika Devi in detail. She is the primordial energy that is responsible for the creation, sustenance and destruction of this entire universe. She is the sum total of the energies of all beings of this universe. By performing the Maha Chandi Homa, one can become free of evil eyes, curses, obstacles and they are also blessed with a lasting health, wealth and prosperity. Sri Sudarshna Yagnam: Sri Sudarshna Yagnam or Homam is performed to eradicate evil effects created by negative planetary effects like Rahu Dosha, Kaala Sarpadosha etc. The worship of Sri Sudarshana through the homa will remove the negative effect of our Purva and present Karma which is the main cause for our bad health, enemies, and court cases. So by performing this homa and praying Sri Sudarshana which is being

worshiped in two forms One as Ayudha Purusha - The Chakra in the hands of Vishnu Sri Krishna and as Parama Purusha The Maha Vishnu with us The protector of the sincere and surrendered devotees. ( Authority: Sri Ahirbudhniya Samhitha detailed in Sri Pancharatra Agama & Vaikhanasa Agama) Sri Lakshmi Narayana Yagnam: Sri Lakshmi Narayana Homam is performed to worship Sri Lakshmi Narayana the divine couple Sri Vishnu & Sri Lakshmi. The homam is performed to get timely marriage, Loving spouse, getting good & intelligent children, Shine in the life with peace and profit and prosperity in the business. All human would lke to lead a peaceful loving life and prosperous business / activities. Sri Lakshmi Narayana Homam gives it and Sri Sudarshana Homa removes the difficulties in leading in our life. These are the two best way of worship to gain the grace / boon of God because without God's grace one cannot live healthy and happy.
