The format for the tournament will be determined by tournament chairpersons, once all teams have entered. The format may vary by division, depending on the number of teams registered within a division. Each team must register at least three players on its roster. The fourth player is optional, five players are not allowed. No additions, deletions, or changes may be made after games have started. Rosters may be altered until the close of tournament check-in. Players may be listed on one roster only. Registration deadline is June 17, 2013 The court monitor will be the official timekeeper/scorekeeper. The referee will be responsible for mediating all disputes. He/she has the right to overturn a call on the court if there is justified reason to do so. The referees interpretation of the rules is final. Physically or verbally threatening or abusing a court monitor/referee is cause for immediate disqualification. Teams must be at their court at the scheduled time. Game time is forfeit time. You may play Up (older Grade category) but you may not play Down. North Dakota High School Activities Association prohibits student-athletes from winning prize money. If a student-athlete plays in the Mens or Womens category and that team wins, the prize money will be forfeited for the entire team. Remember that this is a fun event to bring alumni and friends together, for some friendly competition and care-free entertainment.

The Game
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. A coin-flip will be used to determine which team will begin with the ball at the top of the key. Games will be played to 20 points. All games will have a 20 minute running clock. Each team will be awarded one (45 second) timeout per game. The 3-point line represents the take-back line. All baskets made inside the 3-point line will be scored as one (1) point and offense will retain possession. A foul during the act of shooting, when made, will result in two (2) points. Baskets made beyond the 3-point arc will be scored as two (2) points. Tournament will be played in the Hazen Public School. Games will be played using a winners out or make-it take-it format. In which following a made basket, possession will remain the same. Following all made baskets, the ball must be checked-in at the top of the key. The offensive player must pass the ball into play. All fouls and violations will be played at the top of the key. Out-of-bounds balls will be played from the top of the key and must be checked-in. Following a missed basket or steal that results in a change of possession, the ball must always be taken back beyond the take-back line. No Dunking Allowed. An unwritten 30-second shot clock is in effect at all times and may be enforced by the court monitor or referee at their discretion. Once the court monitor/referee has announced that the shot clock is in effect, each team has 30-seconds to get a shot off. The shot must make contact with the rim of the basket for the shot clock to be restarted. A defensive foul also resets the shot clock.

Fouls and Violations


1. 2. 3. All player fouls and violations will be the sole responsibility for the referee. There will not be appeals regarding calls made on the court. The referees interpretation of the rules is final. The offensive team will retain possession. Should the offensive team be in the act of shooting and make the basket, no foul shots will be awarded, the basket will count as 2 points and the team will take possession at the top of the key. Technical fouls and flagrant fouls will be awarded two points to the opposing team.
