Robert M. Woznicki MD to Head CHJCs Community Mental Health Clinic


Watertown: Robert M. Woznicki MD has recently been named Medical Director of the Community Clinic of Jefferson County (CCJC), an affiliate of the Childrens Home of Jefferson County. He is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all medical care provided at CCJC and for the quality of services rendered. Since 2007, Dr. Woznicki has been involved in the PROS Program where he supervised nurse practitioners for 120 chronically, severely mentally ill patients, many with developmental difficulties including mental retardation and autistic-spectrum disorders. Most recently, Dr. Woznicki ran a private practice in Long Island, New York, which he operated since 1993. While running this practice, he also was an attending physician at several hospitals including Eastern Long Island Hospital; J.T. Mather Memorial Hospital and St. Charles Hospital; Port Jefferson, New York; and Stepping Stones East Continuing Day Treatment Program, an inpatient program for the severely mentally ill. As a consultant, Dr. Woznicki has worked at the Central Suffolk Hospital, Central Suffolk Nursing Home, and Riverhead Nursing Home, all located in Riverhead, New York. Dr. Woznicki received his medical doctorate from Jagiellonian University, Nicholas Copernicus Academy of Medicine in Krakow, Poland, in 1985. He then relocated to the United States where he completed a psychiatry residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook from 1985 to 1989. He immediately joined a psychomatic medicine fellowship program at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, completing in 1990. Dr. Woznicki is board certified and licensed in New York State. Following completion of his fellowship program, Dr. Woznicki accepted a position with the State University of New York at Stony Brook as an assistant professor where he remained till 1993. He was also the director of psychiatric consultation/liaison fellowship as well as the acting director of psychiatric consultation/liaison service. MORE

As a New York State Office of Mental Health Article 31 Outpatient Mental Health Clinic, the Community Clinic of Jefferson County serves a current population of more than 1,200 individuals and employs a diverse professional staff including mental health counselors, social workers, nurses, nurse practitioners and physicians. It opened its doors in July 2011 to meet the mental and behavioral health of Northern New York residents. An important community resource, as patient needs evolve, CCJC strives to implement new and innovative programs. CCJCs comprehensive treatment options include individual therapies, couples/family therapy, group therapy, psychopharmacologic treatment, and forensic evaluations.
