The 2013 Macedonia Sickle Cell Sabbath, a collaboration between Macedonia and the American Red Cross, will be off-site at Drew Model School (3500 S 23rd Street, Arlington, Va.) on Sunday, June 30th. The worship service will begin at 9:30 am (casual attire - no shorts or tank tops). The American Red Cross blood drive will take place in the Drew gymnasium from 9 am to 3 pm and the blood donations will be blue-tagged for sickle cell patients. Your sacrifice to give blood will be a blessing to patients who suffer with this painful disease that requires numerous transfusions. Minister Akisha S. Greene


Akisha Sharon Greene, is the Founder of First Fridays. First Fridays is not a clique! We are not a sorority! We are a movement! Literally, moving Women from where they are to where, God has called them to be in every single area of their lives. We are biblical based, socially sensitive, spiritually alive and radically in love with Jesus! We dont have an agenda! Our goals are simple to empower, encourage, and equip ALL WOMEN. We are without equal. Since our birth, First Fridays has grown both in size and scope. Through enrichment; teaching; wellness; screenings; outreach; spiritual counseling and mentoring we are Empowering families, One Woman at a Time. Akisha is the second of 5 children, born to the late Sharon Brown-Greene and Cornelius Levi Greene. A product of the Prince Georges County Public School System, Akisha has a Certificate in Paralegal Studies from Georgetown University, Bachelors of Science Degree from Bowie State University, and a Masters of Divinity Degree from Howard University. She is a Managing Partner of Greene and Vaden, Inc., which owns and operates DCs premier cleaning agency, MaidPro of Capitol Hill, a residential and commercial cleaning agency that services well over one thousand clients and, employs thirty-five full time employees. Akisha is also the author of her first book entitled Dont Wait Until Sunday! In the words of Akisha: There are way too many people postponing LIVING a LIFE of Victory! There are no blackout dates with God. There are no restrictions or bad service areas with God. You have God's undivided attention today! Dont wait until tomorrow! Don't wait until Sunday! Akisha hosts annual forums for aspiring small business owners and, serves as a coach and mentor to many. Akisha is one of the founding members of the Community of Hope A.M.E. Church, in Temple Hills MD, where the Rev. Tony Lee is the Pastor. She served as the Coordinator of the Intercessory Prayer Ministry, and the Minister to Women to well over one thousand Women. She is currently a member of the Abundant Life Family Fellowship Church, where the Rev. Lawrence Taylor is her Pastor and Covering. For she is persuaded, that she is called for such a time as this to EMPOWER, EQUIP AND ENCOURAGE the world one WOMAN at a time!

Reverend Dr. Gloria E. Miller


The Reverend Gloria E. Miller is a native of Washington, DC. She began her career at the Department of the Navy, and excelled to the management level as a Supervisory Contract Specialist. Reverend Miller graduated from Trinity College in Washington, DC with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and Howard University in Washington, DC with a Master of Divinity Degree. Reverend Miller was called and licensed to preach the Gospel at the Peoples Church in Washington, DC. She was ordained and served as Assistant Pastor at the Saint Paul Baptist Church in Capital Heights, Maryland for thirteen years. Among her varying assignments, she was also responsible for the Womens Ministry and the Rites of Passage Ministry for young girls. Reverend Miller served as the first Protestant Chaplain for Trinity College and provided consultant services for the Womens Ministry at Bronx Christian Fellowship Church located in Bronx, New York. Reverend Miller is a distinguished preacher, teacher, and ecumenical retreat consultant, specializing in Social Justice and Womens Issues. She is noted for political activity and her ability to develop partnerships between the church and community to understand the relationship of spiritual development and social concerns. Reverend Miller served as National Treasurer of the National Political Congress of Black Women for eight years and the Secretary of the Collective Banking Group Inc. of Prince Georges County Maryland for ten years. Reverend Miller served for four years as the Chief of Staff/Senior Assistant to the Senior Minister at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Washington, DC for four years. In that position she had management and supervisory authority over the administrative, programmatic, and organizational life of the church. She was charged to ensure that every aspect of the church life was managed and maintained at the highest level of professional excellence. Reverend Miller is currently serving as an Associate Pastor at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, in Landover, Maryland. She is a certified Life Coach and recently received the Doctorate of Ministry degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
