Graduate Research Assistant, Dr. Sarah Yuan August 2012-Present Studied factors contributing to microvascular hyperpermeability under inflammatory conditions. Utilized techniques such as cell culture, ECIS, immunocytochemistry, Western Blot, and RT-PCR to determine how changes at the cellular level effect endothelial barrier function. .

Undergraduate Researcher, Dr. Nancy Morvillo and January-April 2012 Dr. Brittany Gasper Collected samples of native lichen species and several bacterial samples from Florida Southern College campus. Performed Kirby-Bauer Disc Diffusion assay using aqueous lichen extracts to determine antimicrobial activity of lichen against bacterial samples. Identified species of cyanobacteria from several Central Florida lakes utilizing several biochemical tests. Determined overall status of eutrophication based on species identified from lake samples.
