Level 7 Extended Diploma in Strategic Management and Leadership (QCF) Unit 1: Developing Strategic Management and Leadership Skills Assignment 1 Purpose The purpose of this assignment is to provide a framework within which the learner can: Understand the relationship between strategic management and leadership Apply management and leadership theory to support organisational direction Assess leadership requirements Plan the development of leadership skills

Scenario This assignment provides you with an opportunity to report to the management team of your chosen organisation on strategic management and leadership. You are expected to present a substantial report equivalent to at least 1500 words, and deliver an oral presentation to a suitable audience including your tutor.

Task 1 Select an organisation which either you are currently involved in, or you have recently worked in, or one you would like to start to research Prepare the following: a) an explanation of the link between strategic management and leadership b) an analysis of the impact of management and leadership styles on strategic decisions c) an evaluation of how leadership styles can be adapted to different situations
