About PBL World Australia

PBL World Australia will bring together educators who understand that Project Based Learning is a key strategy for creating an effective and engaging 21st Century classroom that promotes students ability to master skills and content within the framework of the NSW Board of Studies Curriculum. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the Buck Institute for Educations (BIE) PBL 101 workshop. PBL 101 engages participants in learning the principles for designing, assessing, and managing outcomes-focused projects, as well as using performance assessment to judge the rigorous work generated by 21st century learners. Participants will work with other teachers within their stage and one of the BIEs national faculty to create customised plans for PBL implementation.

Key features of Project Based Learning

Project Based Learning gives an effective context for the implementation of the new national curriculum. School wide outcomes are developed that could be based around the General Capabilities for the new National Curriculum. Problematic knowledge, a key focus of new curriculum documents, is a key component of Project Based Learning. The elements on the outside of the hexagon are key features that Project Based Learning uses in order to engage students in significant content, with 21st Century Skills.
