So far you have learned about

formal self-introductions which
include only names and work
careers. However, in a more
relaxed atmosphere, selfintroductions may add some
personal information about the
introducer, such as nickname,
hometown, special interests, and
hobbies.

Here are examples of informal

introductions:
My name is Suchada Wiwatvong.
But you can call me Ning. I come
from Sara Buri. Im now working at
a branch of Siam Commercial Bank

INTRODUCING SOMEONE ELSE

Prof.. What
should be included
when I introduce a
person? Is it the
same as when I
introduce myself?

The introduction of oneself and others is

quite similar. However, you usually
include more information when
introducing others.
Another difference would be in the use of
personal pronouns. Self-introduction
comes with first-person personal pronouns:
I and we, whereas the introduction of
someone uses third-person personal
pronouns: he, she, it, and they. In
addition, while possessive pronouns: my
and our are used in a self introduction,
his, her, it and their are used when
introducing others.

Task: Introduce each person below. Start with one of the following
sentences:
This is my friend. (Informal)
Id like to introduce my friend. (Formal)
May I introduce to you my friend.? (Formal)

questions:

Excuse me! Whats your name?
Where do you come from?
What do you do for a living?
Can you tell me about your job?
Are you a (banker)?
You are a (teacher), arent you?
What do you like to do when you are free from work?
Where do you work?
Hi! Id like to introduce my friend.

Task: Ask the presenter some

questions about the person
who has been introduced
and then do a more detailed
reintroduction.
Your questions are here:

The Reintroduction:
May I introduce to you my
friend..
