ismadeofstonesandbricksandgoesover2,000
milesacrossthenorthernborder.Thewallsare
twentyfivefeetwideatthebaseandtwentyfeet
highandtherearethirtyfoottowerseverytwo
hundredtothreehundredfeet.Itisimpressive!

WhentheGreatWallofChinawas
completed,thepeoplefeltsecureandsafe.But
inthefirstfewyearsaftercompletion,thewalls
werebreachedthreetimes.Didtheenemyscale
thewalls?No,theyweretoohigh.Norwerethey
battereddown(toothick).Ithappenedbecause
threetimestheenemybribedthosewhowatched
thegate.

Thesecurityofanationisnotfoundin
wallsofdefense,orthesizeofitsarmies.The
strengthofanationcomesfromthecharacterof
itspeople.Proverbs14:34says,Righteousness
exaltsanation,butsinisareproachtoany
peopleThisMemorialDayremember,those
whogavetheirlifeforournationtobefree.

ThisSundaywewillalsorememberthose
ofourownchurchfamilythathavediedsincelast
MemorialDay.Ihopeyouwillprayforthose
familiesaswell.
