Cool diet tips for this season.

CORPORATE BYTES v Group V Budgets & Targets 2013-14 Meet The Budgets Meet of both V-Trans and V-Xpress divisions was held on 13, 14 & 15 of last month in Belapur, Navi Mumbai, amidst great enthusiasm. In addition to the budgets and targets set for the FY 2013-14, the platform was used to deliberate on critical issues related to services and operations. Like in the past FY, this year too the Management has decided to carry forward its focus towards Operations Excellence. This year the thrust will be more on pursuit of service efficiency, reduction of operations costs, adherence to norms, systems and compliances. Our Directors Shri Hasmukh Shah & Shri Rajesh Shah also drew attention to the importance of SOPs and audit systems that will help push operations efficiency to a newer scale. Mr. J. D. Chokshi's meticulous preparation of the All India Budgets & Targets: FY-2013-14 for both V-Trans and V-Xpress divisions is highly appreciated. (See pictures in Photo Gallery, page 12)

v Training Focus Truck hiring is an integral part of the operations function and the role and responsibility of a truck hirer is equivalent to a Purchase Manager. The organization has been extending regular trainings to different wings of operations; an exclusive training session for Truck Hirers (Traffic Function) was organized by Corporate Operations under Mr. Anil Gaur on March 6, 2013 in Delhi Region to enhance their skills. A truck hirer or a traffic handler should possess sound knowledge of operations, routes, costings, market trends, maintain contacts with reliable suppliers, be an excellent negotiator of truck rates, be able to communicate well and should be sincere a person. The P & L of the branch/area/Region depends on his acquiring these skills. He is also the friendly man looked up to by both customers and operations teams alike for fulfillment of their daily truck supplies as also by the sales and marketing dept. for confirmation of rates before quoting to customers. v A New milestone: Andheri Branch completes 30 years! Our Andheri branch completes 30 years on April 7, 2013. We extend our sincere congratulation to this branch on achieving this milestone. Readers will recollect that last year in our April issue, we carried a special article on th this branch on its 29 birthday. Andheri is one of the significant suburbs in Mumbai. For one, it is the favorite abode of socialites, and personalities from the film and TV live here (Lokhandwala). Secondly, it is hailed as one of the major industrial and production hubs (MIDC, Seepz), with an equal concentration of pharmaceuticals, electronics, chemicals and engineering units. V-Trans Andheri is a landmark, enjoys a prominent market share here and contributes substantially to the organizations' growth. It is to be noted that Mr. Ramnik M. Gala has been associated with this branch since the time it opened and is still active here. We wish the entire Team Andheri the very best in all their endeavors and may they achieve many more milestones.

MESSAGE FROM THE MANAGING DIRECTOR'S DESK Dear Friends, March is gone and happily, pressures have eased, I am sure everyone is now relaxed. At the outset, I wish to congratulate everyone from Sr. Managers to BICs and supporting teams for their spirited efforts, motivation and commitment to end the FY on a wonderful note. Every Region and Area of V-Trans & V-Xpress divisions has put in their best performance and deserves a pat on the back. This raises our hopes for a robust FY 2013-14. My best wishes to everyone. Considering the country's GDP growth rate reportedly sliding down to 5% this FY compared to 6.2% in 2011-12, this is a remarkable feat amidst a weak economy, sluggish sales, crippling liquidity crunch and rising costs. GDP or Gross Domestic Production is the value of a country's overall production of goods and services during the fiscal year, based on total production costs, output and sales & profits earned. Let us now train our sights on the goals set for the year ahead and press home the advantages gained in these past months. Some smart thinking, venturing out of conventional boundaries, focusing on revival of lost clients and inward business in addition to outward, and constantly re-strategizing are some of the outgoing qualities needed to succeed in the year ahead. V-Trans is immensely privileged that our Chairman, Shri A.K Shah met the great personality, Mr. Narendra Modi himself, in his office at Ahmedabad last month. The special moments have been captured by us in the article entitled Gujarat Gaurav: A Tryst with Mr. Narendra Modi including photographs and a personal letter addressed to us in expression of his tribute to our founder Shri K.K. Shah. In yet another thrust to our march towards excellence, V-Trans was awarded as one of the Fastest growing Co's in India by the INC. India 500. The award was received in a glittering function held in Greater Noida on March 18, 2013. Among the host of articles contributed by our staff, this month our pick of the month is Emotional Intelligence, a powerful modern day technique that helps us to perceive, control and evaluate emotions for a better role-play in our professional and personal life. Read more about its benefits, inside. Winter is gone, spring has left, shadows have lengthened and lo! Summer is here. It's time to brace ourselves against the scorching heat until the cool monsoon showers arrive. Our staff shares tips on healthy diet to beat the heat this summer in Your Health section. Another interesting contribution by one of our staff members, Why do we shout in anger? peeks into anger management. A nice lesson conveyed in a story for everyone to take home.

Best Wishes,

Mahendra K. Shah

GUJARAT GAURAV: A TRYST WITH MR. NARENDRA MODI V-Trans is deeply honored that our Chairman Shri A.K. Shah got an audience from Mr. Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat in his office last month. Shri Ashokbhai presented Mr. Modi a copy of Anukampa a coffee-table book written in Gujarati, in tribute to the family patriarch, Shri Kunverji K. Shah, a great personality with deep feelings for animals and the downtrodden alike. We are pleased to publish his views conveyed in a personal letter addressed to Shri M.K. Shah, MD.

Mr. Narendra Modi, Shri A.K. Shah & Mr. Viral Shah.

A personality like Mr. Narendra Modi does not need introduction. His immense popularity is gauged by the fact that he is the longest serving Chief Minister of Gujarat State ever since he was elected to the post in October 2001. His vision to transform Gujarat to a futuristic state and his Vibrant Gujarat initiative towards self-sufficiency have put the state on international map. Hailing from humble roots, he is an able thinker, a leader of political acumen and his vision goes beyond infrastructure development. He is a perfect example of good governance and has introduced several socio-economic and health reforms for the rural, including empowerment of women to make the state an economic superpower. Besides his home turf, his acclaim crosses national and international borders. These qualities make him a strong and deserving contender for the post of India's Prime Minister in the upcoming general elections next year. Our best wishes are with him.

The Gyan Tree: Why Do We Shout in Anger Once upon a time, a great sage, accompanied by his disciples stopped by the banks of a river. In the distance, they saw a group of people arguing and shouting loudly at each other in anger. The sage asked his disciples, Why do people shout at each other in anger? The disciples offered many answers. Finally, he explained When two people are angry at each other, the anger creates a huge distance between their hearts. To cover that distance, they must shout at each other to be heard. When love is deep they whisper. When hearts are closer, they don't even whisper but just look in each others' eyes and understand the unspoken words.
