Handball Final Reached

The U15s boys have made the National Handball finals on June 29th in London, after becoming the North of England Champions in the recent finals series in Warrington. Its a remarkable story for the team, who only start the sport this year as part of the schools London 2012 legacy program. The team got off to a slow start losing 6-3 to a team they should have beat. This was a wake up call and the lads put in some great performances in the next three games (5-1, 5-1, 5-2) to book a place in the National Finals. The Nationals consist of two teams from the North and two from the South STOP PRESS! At the time of writing, the U13s boys became Trafford Champions and now go to the Manchester School Games on July 9th!

Year 10/11 Rugby League squad fall Boys shine in Rugby League just short in Manchester Grand Final Grand Final at Salford Stadium
It was heartbreak recently as the Yr10/11 team were defeated 34 -38 in an epic South Manchester Grand Final against Wellacre at the City of Salford Stadium before the Reds clash with Bradford Bulls. A great fight back from 18-0 down early on was not quite enough for the team who have made massive strides this season, many of whom play for the North Trafford Titans in the North West Counties League on Sunday mornings. Volleyball Debut for SHS

The school took part in the North West Volleyball and Sitting Volleyball Festival in Leigh on Friday 24th May Volleyball has been a surprise success this year as part of the schools London 2012 legacy program. 32 students will enter the two tournaments at boys and girls U13s and U15s. Well tell all next month!

SHS PE team wish to extend our most sincere congratulations for the guys who took on the 72 hour football match recently. Whilst confirmation of the world record is still awaited, regardless it was an amazing achievement and we salute you! The North Trafford Titans sports brand, already established with Rugby and soon Handball, will be extended further with Basketball. Miss Walker is aiming to create a satellite Basketball club linked with Manchester Magic. Training will be Tuesday and Thursdays in from Sept Manchester United Foundation and SHS are pairing up to reward our PE dream team for 2012-13 A team of the finest PE students will have a team picture at the theatre of dreams and attend the charity game v Real Madrid
