SCOPE 1.1 This Specification, based on the recommended practices of BPA-D-003, gives the technical requirements for OCTG crossovers to be manufactured and supplied for use throughout BP. This Specification is applicable to crossovers to be manufactured from ISO 11960 (API 5CT) material Grades and certain Purchaser free-issue material if the requirements of Section 7 of this specification are met. This specification may or may not be suitable if manufacturing crossovers from material Grades not meeting ISO 11960 (API 5CT) requirements; therefore guidance should be sought from the UTG Houston Tubulars Team if crossovers are to be made from other materials.

ISO 9001: ISO 11960: NACE -MR-0175: TDR 207: PST 207: 3 DEFINITIONS

Connection Licensor:

Organisation owning the rights to the connection design or their designated agent.

Crossover (connector): A one-piece tubular section, not including pipe or couplings, used for the purpose of joining or changing from one size, mass, or type of thread connection to the same or another size, mass, or type of th threaded connection. Note: This is the API 5CT 6 Edition definition for a connector. Manufacturer: The organisation responsible for the manufacture of crossovers to meet the requirements of this Specification. Proprietary connection: A non-API connection. Purchaser: BP or other organisation approved to purchase crossovers on behalf of BP. TDR: Technical Documentation Requirements: A document produced by the Purchaser that details the various technical document submissions and related actions required. PST: Purchaser Surveillance Tasks: A document produced and used by the Purchaser that identifies the surveillance tasks to be performed at the Manufacturers works by a Purchaser nominated inspection body.

MANUFACTURER 4.1 4.2 The Manufacturer of crossovers shall possess ISO 9001 certification, or Purchaser approved equivalent, and an API 5CT licence. Proprietary connections shall only be produced by Manufacturers that hold all applicable current licences that have been issued on behalf of the connection licensor(s).

PURCHASE ORDER The purchase order for crossovers is to be supplemented by PST 207, TDR 207 and a completed Crossover Data Sheet (see Appendix A) for each type of crossover to be supplied.

PURCHASER SURVEILLANCE 6.1 At the Purchasers request, the Manufacturer shall allow access to the Purchaser (or designated agent) for the surveillance of manufacturing and inspection activities at the Manufacturers works. If applicable, and should the Purchaser request it, the Manufacturer shall also arrange access for the surveillance of manufacturing and inspection activities performed by the Manufacturers suppliers. Surveillance shall be as described in PST 207 and TDR 207.

MATERIAL 7.1 The material used for manufacturing crossovers shall be in accordance with the requirements of ISO 11960 (API 5CT), latest edition, supplemented by the requirements of GS 102-1 and this Specification. Material supplied to this specification shall also meet the requirements of NACE MR-0175 with the exception of Grades N80, C95, P110 and Q125, which are not normally intended for sour service. Note that other material Grades meeting ISO 11960 (API 5CT) requirements also meet NACE MR-0175 requirements, except that material Grades H, J and K shall be hardness tested to confirm the maximum 22 HRC requirement of clause 3.2.1 of NACE MR-0175 is being met. Corrosion resistant alloys (CRAs), which are not ISO 11960 (API 5CT) Grades, such as martensitic 13Cr alloys (e.g., Super 13Cr steel) and duplex stainless steel, may be used subject to the material being free-issued by the Purchaser and having been qualified for use in the specific application conditions. Materials not in compliance with this specification shall not be used for crossover manufacture without prior consultation with the UTG Houston Tubulars Team. Crossovers shall be manufactured from casing, tubing, coupling stock or forged bar stock. Where crossovers are to be machined from hot -forged bar stock, a reduction ratio of at least 4 to 1 shall be used. Welding of the material for repair or other purposes shall not be permitted. The Manufacturer shall ensure full traceability of all material used to manufacture crossovers and shall maintain records of any subsequent operations that may alter material properties, e.g., heat treatment.

DIMENSIONS 8.1 Dimensions of crossovers shall meet the requirements of Figure 1. If the dimensional requirements of Figure 1 cannot be met, the Manufacturer shall submit drawings and appropriate calculations for approval by the Purchaser. The Manufacturer shall give due consideration to the crossover design if the purchase order or Crossover Data Sheet specifies a hydraulic control line allied to the crossover. The crossover shall have adequate length and external features to allow the application of proper make-up tools. When specified on the purchase order, the length of the crossover shall be sufficient to allow at least one re-cut of the connection and still maintain the requirements of Figure 1.

Taper angles: a = 10; = 10. r =15 mm. 9 MECHANICAL TESTING 9.1 General Test samples shall be taken from material after any final tempering heat-treatment. Test requirements shall be in accordance with ISO 11960 (API 5CT) unless superseded by the requirements of this Specification. 9.2 Specimen Location for Forged Bar Stock Where possible, test specimens shall be taken from the region in the forged bar stock that is representative of the mid-wall area of the minimum diameter connection. 9.3 Charpy V-Notch Impact Test Requirements 9.3.1 Test temperature shall be 0C (32F) except where the temperature at the geographical location, for the intended use of the crossover, can be below 0C (32F). In this case, the test temperature shall comply with the following for the locations listed and for other locations with similar regional temperatures. Location North Sea or Caspian Sea Alaska Test Temperature -10C (14F) -46C (-50F)

9.3.2 The hierarchy for test specimen orientation and size is as specifi ed in Table 1 (not the same as the Table in ISO 11960 (API 5CT), except in the case of forged bar stock where the test specimens shall always be taken in the transverse orientation. 9.3.3 The requirements for the absorbed energy values shall be as specified in Table 2.

9.3.4 Any material for crossover manufacture that requires a test temperature of -10C (14F) in accordance with the above requirements may be acceptable if it has already been tested at 0C (32F) and providing that the Charpy impact test results are a t least 15 J (11 ft/lb) higher than the values shown in Table 2. 9.3.5 The reduction factors as specified in ISO 11960 (API 5CT) shall be applied.

NON DESTRUCTIVE INSPECTION 10.1 All internal and external machined surfaces shall be inspected in accordance with the requirements of ISO 11960 (API 5CT) Section 9.14, except that where magnetic particle testing is specified, the magnetic field shall be applied both longitudinally and circumferentially to locate flaws in all orientations. 10.2 Non-ferromagnetic materials shall be examined by liquid penetrant testing, in lieu of magnetic particle testing, prior to the machining of the threads. Either a fluorescent or non-

fluorescent liquid penetrant test method meeting the requirements of ASTM E165 shall be used. 10.3 Where access for direct visual examination is restricted on internal bores, i.e., on smaller diameter crossovers, a boroscope or other suitable visual aid shall be used to verify correct application of the test method and to interpret indications. 10.4 On ferromagnetic materials, where access to the internal surface is restricted for the successful application of magnetic particle inspection, the internal surface shall be examined by liquid penetrant testing in accordance with the requirements of Sections 10.2 and 10.3. 10.5 Prior to manufacture of the crossover, the Manufacturer may propose an alternative nondestructive test method for testing the internal surface, providing the method is capable of detecting all surface breaking flaws. Alternative test methods shall not be used unless approved by the Purchaser.

11 HYDROSTATIC TESTING
Hydrostatic testing of crossovers shall be performed when specified on the purchase order. Hydrostatic tests shall be performed in accordance with ISO 11960 (API 5CT) at the alternative test pressure (i.e., to 80% SMYS), unless otherwise specified.

12 DRIFTING
12.1 Each completed crossover shall be drift tested full length using a 1067mm (42 in) long drift, except where both of the connections are above Label 1 : 7-5/8, in which case a 305 mm (12 in) long drift may be used. 12.2 Unless otherwise noted in the purchase order, the drift diameter shall be specified to suit the smaller of the internal diameters of the two connections and shall be in accordance with GS 102-1 Table 3 (Alternative Drift Requirements). 12.3 Chromium plated or nylon drifts shall be used for 13Cr crossovers and other corrosion resistant alloys. 13 SURFACE FINISH 13.1 General Crossovers shall be supplied with an anti-corrosion protection system applied to the external surface of the crossover unless otherwise agreed with the Purchaser. 13.2 Contamination The internal and external surfaces of supplied crossovers shall be free from loose mill scale, dirt, oil, grease or other extraneous material which may be detrimental to the satisfactory inspection, coating, running or in-service operation. 13.3 13Cr Crossovers 13.3.1 Unless the internal surface has been machined, the internal surface of crossovers manufactured using 13Cr material shall be blast cleaned to ISO 8501-1 grade Sa2 using garnet abrasive or a Purchaser approved alternative. Pickling of 13Cr material is not permitted as an alternative to internal blast cleaning. 13.3.2 A Purchaser approved anti-corrosion coating/oil film shall be applied to the internal surface immediately after blast cleaning. The coating/oil layer shall be uniform in appearance, i.e., no pooling or excess coating/oil shall be present in the bore of the pipe. 13.4 End Finishing 13.4.1 All connections shall have a surface treatment applied using a process that is approved by the Purchaser. 13.4.2 In addition to clause 13.4.1, proprietary connections shall only receive surface treatments that are acceptable to the Connection Licensor.

13.4.3 Carbon steel connections shall be phosphated, unless otherwise agreed by the Purchaser. 13.4.4 The box connection on 13Cr steel couplings shall be copper plated. A process acceptable to the Connection Licensor shall be used, where applicable. 13.4.5 The connections shall be coated with Rust-Veto AS, Kendex or other Purchaser approved, metal-free, storage compound. 13.5 Thread Protectors 13.5.1 Crossovers shall be supplied with Purchaser approved thread protectors of the closed-end liftable type made from composite or heavy -duty hard plastic. Steel or thin plastic thread protectors shall not be used unless approved by Purchaser. 13.5.2 A 3 mm (1/8 in) weep hole shall be present in each closed-end type protector to allow venting of the bore. 14 MARKING Marking and colour coding shall be as specified in ISO 11960 (API 5CT) and the purchase order. 15 DOCUMENTATION 15.1 The Manufacturer shall supply to the Purchaser copy certificates for the original material used for the manufacture of the crossovers, and in addition, shall supply documentary evidence of acceptable material properties following any final tempering heat treatment. 15.2 Requirements for technical documentation are given in TDR 207.
