The Book of Enoch Introduction This edition of Sefer Enokh was produced by comparing the Aramaic version with

t he translation by R.H. Charles in 1906. R.H. Charles translated his version from Ethiopian. This is a modern English translation, making corrections in the R.H. Charles version (RHCv) with the Essene scrolls. We find that the RHCv is a fair ly decent translation when compared to the Aramaic text of the Assembly of Jerus alem, thus this is the reason behind its use. The phrase "Sefer Enokh" means "The Book of Enoch" . Chapter and verse numbers i n this Version are not always in the same order as printed in the RHCv. Chapter 1 1 The words of the blessing of Enokh, which he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the wicked and evil ones are to be removed. 2 And he took up his parable and said "Enokh, a righteous man, whose eyes were o pened by Alaha, saw the vision of the Holy One who is in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard everything, and from them I understood a s I saw, but not for this generation, but for a distant generation which is yet to come." 3 Concerning the elect I said: "The Great Holy One, blessed is he, will come for th from His dwelling place from on high, 4 And the eternal Alaha will tread upon the earth, upon Mount Sinai, and appear in the strength of his might from the heaven of heavens. 5 And all shall be filled with fear, and the watchers shall tremble, and great f ear shall seize them unto the ends of the earth. 6 And the high mountains shall be shaken, and the great hills shall be made low, and shall melt like wax before the flame. 7 And the earth shall be torn into two pieces, and all that is upon the earth sh all perish, and there shall be a judgement upon all of them. 8 But he will give peace to the righteous ones. And he will protect the root [[N asramit: nasraya]], and mercy shall be given to them. For all of them belong to Alaha, and they will be given a great reward, and they will all be blessed. Alah a will help them, and light shall appear unto them, and he will give them peace. 9 Behold! He comes with ten thousands of his holy ones to execute judgement upon all, and to destroy all of the evil ones; and he will convict all flesh of all the works of their wickedness which they have committed, and of all the evil whi ch the ungrateful have spoken against him." Chapter 2 1 Observe everything that takes place in the heavens, how they do not change the ir orbits, and the luminaries which are in the heavens, how they all rise and se t in order each in its season, and how none of them go against their appointed o rder. 2 Observe the earth, and give heed to the things which take place upon it from f

irst to last, how steadfast they are, how none of the things upon earth change, but all the works of Alaha appear to you. 3 Observe the summer and the winter seasons, how the whole earth is filled with water, and clouds and dew and rain lie upon it. Chapter 3 1 Observe and see how all the trees seem as though they had withered and shed al l their leaves during the cold winds, except fourteen trees, which do not lose t heir foliage but retain the old foliage from two to three years till the new com es. Chapter 4 1 And again, observe the days of summer how the sun is above the earth over agai nst it. 2 And you seek shade and shelter because of the heat of the sun, and the earth a lso burns with growing heat, and so you cannot tread on the earth, or on a rock by reason of its heat. Chapter 5 1 Observe how the trees cover themselves with green leaves and bear fruit: also give heed and know with regard to all the works of Alaha, and recognize how he t hat lives for ever has made them in this manner. 2 All of the works of Alaha go on this manner from year to year for ever, and al l the tasks which they accomplish for him, and their tasks do not change, but al l of these work in accordance with how Alaha has ordained them. 3 And observe how the sea and the rivers in a similar manner accomplish and do n ot change their tasks from what Alaha has ordained. 4 But you have not been steadfast, nor observed the commandments of Mar-Yah, Ins tead, you have turned away and spoken proud and have been ungrateful to Alaha wi th your impure mouths against his greatness. Oh, you hard-hearted, you shall fin d no peace. 5 Therefore all of your days are as something loathsome, and the years of your l ife shall perish, and the years of your destruction shall be multiplied in etern al loathing, And mercy for you will be hard to find. 6 The righteous will see your names as being a loathsome thing, and by your name all the peoples will curse; and even the evil ones will curse you. 7 And all the righteous ones shall be filled with great rejoicing, and there sha ll be forgiveness of sins, and every mercy with peace and grace; there shall be salvation unto them, in the great and luminous heavens. 8 And for all of you evil ones, salvation will be difficult to find, but on you all shall abide a curse. But for the root there shall be light and joy and peace , and they shall inherit the earth. 9 And then Alaha shall give great wisdom and learning to his chosen ones, the ro ot, and they shall all live and never again find sin, and all pride will be remo ved; and all those who are wise shall be humble. 10 And they shall never again commit sins, nor shall they sin all the days of th

eir life, nor shall they die at the hand of Alaha. 11 And their lives shall be increased in peace, and the years of their joy shall be multiplied, and in eternal gladness and peace they shall walk forever.
