Epic Poem

1. This simply means that life becomes meaningful if someone died for the sake of something. Just like what heroes did they put their lives into risk for the welfare of all. Someones death will become meaningful and full of worth if the cause was to save the life of others. They prefer to have them dead than their people die. Doing an act of heroism will make someone's death meaningful and worth reminiscing. 2. The monsters in the poem represent the social sickness that infect the culture as a whole. Like monsters they can be killed but still continue in their existence. They destroy the moral of the society and its people. Their occurrence is no longer surprising because the people were used to it. It is just surprising that they can never be vanished in our lives. 3. According to Voth, great courage and bravery is the real value of heroism. Heroism is an unselfish act done by a person with extraordinary strength and vision for the common good. A person who will do such thing even his life will be the exchange of such doing. Heroism is an action dictated by heart, witnessed by eyes and conquered violence in a just way to instill peace. 4. Gift giving is an act of giving something to someone which is from the heart. When you give gift you don't expect something in return which you can get as prize of such act. Heroism is like gift giving, a hero give his life to the people to end hostility without expecting something in return. 5. If Beowulf is alive today, he would be a man of a rare kind. He is a man of towering height and has big muscles. His face is that of an old man with white hair and white long beard. He is wearing an antique silvery dress of that of a

warrior, with long sharp sword and a round wide shield made of metal. He is wearing brown shoes made of finest durable leather. When he speaks, the congregation listens to him and pays attention. He is like Thor a t the present generation. 6. The poem Beowulf is an epic that tells about an act of heroism done by Beowulf himself. He had defeated Grendel and other monsters that destroy lives of people. He put his life into risk to end the hostility brought by those savage creatures. He successfully instills peace and saves the lives of people 7. The following are the characteristic of an epic poem: The hero is a figure of great national or even cosmic importance, and represents a cultures heroic ideal. The setting of the poem is ample in scale, and may be worldwide, or even larger. The action involves superhuman deeds in battle. In these great actions, the gods and other supernatural beings take an interest or an active part. An epic poem is a ceremonial performance and is narrated in a ceremonial style which is deliberately distanced from ordinary speech and proportioned to the grandeur and formality of the heroic subject matter and the epic architecture.

8. The hero that I want to make will be revealed in the name Ruthless; he is ruthless in fighting villains. He is a brave man and has a good body build. He is tall, brown complexion and smart. Whenever he passes by, people are allure by his aura. He dresses and lives life like an ordinary man. He is the only son of the Datu of the tribe who serves for how many centuries. He fights those people who want to invade their tribe and make them slaves. He uses nothing but his strength in defeating villains. He is a savior of a cultural tribe called Higaonon.
