RECAP: The Rainers scored in the top of the first inning, but need 5 runs over the final 4.0 innings to come-from-behind as Tacoma
defeated Colorado Springs 6-5 on Friday night.C Mike Zunino increased his season home run total to 11, including hitting a 2-out solo
shot in the top of the 9th that gave the Rainiers a 6-5 lead. Zunino and Miller hit back-to-back home runs to lead off the 6th inning. LF
Stefen Romero (3x4, 2 RBI, BB, SB) led the team in hits, while 2B Dustin Ackley (2x4, R, 2B, BB), RF Franklin Gutierrez (2x4, R, BB,
SB), Zunino (2x4, 2 R, 2 HR, 2 RBI, BB) and SS Brad Miller (2x5, R, HR, 2 RBI) each recorded multi-hit outings. Starter Blake Beavan
(5.2,9,5,5,2,1,HR) allowed 5 runs on 9 hits in 5.2 innings, but didnt figure into the decision. LH Brian Moran (2.1,1,0,0,0,5) recorded his 2nd
win of the season, striking out 5 batters in 2.1 scoreless innings in relief. RH Logan Bawcom (1.0,0,0,0,2,0) allowed 2 walks in the bottom
of the 9th inning, but recorded the final 3 outs to record his 9th save of the season.
REHABILITATION ASSIGNMENT: OF Franklin Gutierrez began his rehabilitation assignment with Tacoma on May 16. Gutierrez, who
we 2-for-4 with 1 run scored, 1 walk and 1 stolen, is batting .246 (15x61) with 9 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 home run, 11 RBI, 1 stolen base
and 4 walks in 14 games with Tacoma. He has hit safely in the last 6 games, including 5 consecutive 2-hit games, batting .379 (11x29) with
9 runs scored, 5 doubles, 1 home run and 8 RBI. Gutierrez was placed on the 15-DL list with a strained right hamstring on April 23.
Gutierrez was batting .259 (14x54) with 3 doubles, 4 home runs (3 leadoff HR) and 10 RBI in 16 games (13 GS in CF) this season for
Seattle. This will be the 5th trip to the DL for Gutierrez since the start of the 2011 season.
OF NOTE: OF Stefen Romero has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games, batting .410 (16x39) with 3 runs scored, 2 doubles and 8 RBI. After
going 0-for-4 in his first game, 2B Dustin Ackley has recorded 9 hits in his last 15 at-bats (.600) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 1 home
run, 3 RBI and 4 walks. C Mike Zunino has hit safely in 18 of 22 games on the road this season, batting .352 (32x91) with 22 runs scored,
8 doubles, 1 triples, 10 home runs and 33 RBI. He is batting .077 (5x65) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 home run and 8 RBI in 14
games at home. OF Abraham Almonte currently has a 7-game hit streak, batting .519 (14x27) with 5 runs scored, 2 doubles and 7 RBI.
Overall he is batting .486 (18x37) with 9 runs scored, 2 doubles, 10 RBI, 5 walks and 4 stolen base in his first 13 games with Tacoma. SS
Brad Miller has hit safely in 6 of 7 games with Tacoma, including his last 3 straight games. He is batting .276 (8x29) with 8 runs scored, 1
double, 2 hoome runs, 10 RBI and 6 walks in 7 games. RH Andrew Carraway is 6-0 with a 2.47 ERA (15 ER, 54.2 IP) with 18 walks and
44 strikeouts in his last 9 starts. He has recorded 7 quality starts this season, including one in 6 of his last 7 starts. LH Brian Moran is 1-1
with 2 saves and a 1.40 ERA (3 ER, 19.1 IP) over 14 relief appearances since allowing a season-high 5 runs on April 18. During this
stretch he has limited opponents to a .232 average .200 (14x70), while walking 3 and striking out 32.
25 RUN/30 HIT OUTBURST: The Rainiers recorded 30 hits and scored 25 runs en route to a 25-6
win over Colorado Spings on Wednesday night. The 25 runs scored are the most since the Rainiers
became affiliated with the Mariners in 1995. The previous high was 24 runs scored on June 6, 2011
at Tucson. The 30 hits is also a Rainiers-era franchise record, besting the previous hit of 25 on
June 28, 2004 at Sacramento. The Rainiers recorded at least 2 runs in each of the first 6.0 inning
and 5-or-more runs in 3 different innings. Tacoma jumped out to an early lead with 6 runs in the first
inning and capped off the evening with a 7-run 6th inning. Since 2005, the Rainiers are the 5th
minor league team to score at least 25 runs and record at least 30 hits in a game. The Rainiers join
the Visalia Rawhide in the California League (5/15/12 at High Desert, 26 runs, 31 hits), Lake
Elsinore in the California League (6/28/09 at High Desert, 33 runs, 32 hits), Vaqueros Laguna in
the Mexican League (7/5/08 at Pericos de Puebla, 30 runs, 30 hits) and Diablos Rojos del Mexico
in the Mexican League (4/3/07 vs. Potros de Tijuana, 26 runs, 31 hits) as the only minor league
teams to accomplish this feat in the last 8 seasons.
6-FOR-6: CF Abe Almonte (6x6, 4 R, 2 RBI, BB), who was acquired from the New York Yankees
in exchange for RHP Shawn Kelley during Spring Training, recorded 6 singles on May 29 at
Colorado Springs and became the first Rainiers player to collect 6 hits in a single game since Jerry
Owens on August 25, 2009 at Fresno. He is one of only 3 minor league players to record at 6 hits
in a game this season, joining Alan Sanchez of Oaxaca in the Mexican League (6x8, 5 R, 2 RBI,
BB - 5/9/13 vs. Carmen) and Moises Sierra with Buffalo in the International League (6x6, 5 R, 2B,
3B, 3 RBI - 4/18/13 at Syracuse). Almonte is the first PCL player to record 6 hits in a game since
Bryan Anderson went 6-for-6 against Tucson on May 24, 2012.

POSTPONED - RAIN
RECAP: Last night's game at The Ballpark at Jackson between the Generals and the Huntsville
Stars was postponed due to unplayable field conditions. The game will be made up as part of a
doubleheader on today. The doubleheader will feature two 7.0-inning games and game 2 will be
played 30 minutes after the conclusion of game 1.
OF NOTE: After allowing 2 runs in his first relief outing on April 5, LH Nick Hill has allowed only 3
runs in his last 20.1 innings. Overall this season he has limited opponents to a .192 (14x73)
average, while walking 10 and striking out 15. RH Stephen Kohlscheen has not allowed a run in
his last 13.0 innings in relief (8 G). He has allowed only 1 run in his last 20.0 innings in relief. During
this stretch he limited opponent to a .137 (10x73) average, while walking 3 and striking out 25.
Since April 21, Kohlscheen has lowered his season ERA from 6.35 to 1.75 in 11 games in relief. LH
Kyle Hunter has not allowed a run in his last 8.2 innings in relief (4 G). During this stretch he has
limited opponets to a .133 (4x30) average, while walking 3 and striking out 10. RH Carson Smith
held opponents scoreless over his last 8.0 innings (8 G), while not allowing an earned run in his last
11.0 innings in relief. After allowing 2 runs in back-to-back outings April 17 and 19, Smith has
lowered his season ERA from 8.44 to 2.76. During this 10 game span, he has limited opponent to a
.128 (5x39), while walking 1 and striking out 15. Smith has struck out at least 1 batter in each of his
16 appearances this season (21). RHP Taijuan Walker allowed 11 earned runs over his last 4

opponents to a .197 (37x188) average, while walking 25 and striking out 57. OF Julio Morban has
hit safely in each of his last 4 games, batting .333 (6x18) with 1 run scored, 1 double and 1 RBI.

Choi (1x3, BB) recorded High Deserts only other hit with a single in the top of the 9th inning. Starter Stephen Landazuri (5.0,4,3,2,2,5,HR)
recorded the loss, allowing 3 runs (2 ER) on 4 hits in 5.0 innings. Relievers Seon Gi Kim (1.2,1,0,0,0,0,3) and Jeremy Dobbs
(1.1,0,0,0,0,1) combined to hold the Nuts scoreless over the final 3.0 innings.
OF NOTE: OF Kevin Rivers has hit safely in his last 6 games, including hitting a home run in last 4 games. During this 6-game stretch,
Rivers is batting .318 (7x22) with 6 runs scored, 1 double, 4 home runs and 8 RBI. OF Jamal Austin went 0x3 yesterday, ending his hitting

passed ball with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th inning. The LumberKings recorded 11 hits, including multi-hit outs by Marte (2x4, R), CF
Jabari Henry (2x4, R, BB), LF Janelfry Zorrilla (2x4, R, 2B, 3 RBI) and DH Taylor Ard (2x4, RBI). Starter Tyler Pike (5.0,4,3,3,2,5,HR)
