LESSON PLAN

Teacher: Florentina Filimon School: Gimnaziala Iacobini (Brazii) Grade: 3rd and 4th Date: 30th of May, 2013 Time: 50 min Lesson Unit: What can animals do? / She is first! Materials: textbook, worksheets, pictures, dice, ball, coloured chalk Methods: conversation, explanation, example, group work, role-play, reading, exercise Stages of the lesson 3rd - What can animals do? Grammar: Consolidation vb. Can Aims:
1. to practice silent reading 2. to copy and translate the lesson 3. to make sentences with can/cant 4. to complete a poem.

1. to discriminate between cardinal and ordinal numbers 2. to participate actively in a dialogue 3. to practice ordinal numbers

ORGANISATION OF THE CLASS : * T greets the Ss and asks them a few ordinary questions. * T asks the S on duty to tell the absentees and writes them in the catalogue; Time - 3 minutes ACTIVITY 1 (Warming-up): * T asks Ss what was the previous lesson and Ss answer that they have learnt the verb can (to make positive, negative and interrogative sentences). * They all repeat the poem from the previous lesson. Aim - to make a pleasant atmosphere for the lesson. Time 5 min. ACTIVITY 2 ACTIVITY 2 (Lead-in) : rd * T asks the 3 grade to open their books at page * T asks Ss to introduce themselves and say how 95 and read individually the lesson What can many brothers or sisters they have, passing a ball animals do? from one student to another. * After reading the lesson they will have to copy Hello. ACTIVITY 3 (Presenting the new lesson) * T shows the Ss two pictures which will lead them into the subject of the lesson and ask them a few questions to see what they think the lesson will be about. * T tells them that they are having a new lesson in which they will learn to use and say the ordinal numbers. * T writes on the blackboard the new title (Ordinal Numbers Numerale Ordinale) and asks the Ss to do the same in their notebooks. * T writes on the blackboard the (cardinal) numbers from 1 to 6 and explains to the Ss the difference between the cardinal and ordinal numbers, then she writes the form for each ordinal number + the short form. T uses coloured chalk to underline the specific ending for ordinal numbers. Time - 10 min ACTIVITY 4 (Consolidation of the Ordinal Numbers) *T gives the Ss the ball once again and asks them to tell her what is their ordinal number as a child in their family. I am the second child in my family. Time 2 min ACTIVITY 5 (Practice) * T gives them a worksheet to practice the ordinal numbers consisting in 3 exercises and explains what they have to do. (Individual/Group work). Time 5 min ACTIVITY 3 (Consolidation vb. Can) * T gets together with the Ss and play a game - Ss throw a dice which has 6 animals drawn on it, they have to name the animal and say what it can or cant do. They have to make as many sentences as they can. Time: 5 min. ACTIVITY 4 (Complete the poem) * T gives the Ss a worksheet and they will have to complete a poem (Group work). Time 5 min At the end of the activities each group has to present their worksheets and T checks them. T will praise all Ss and will give flowers/medals to each group + give the homework. Time 10 min
