February 7, 2013 AUSL Principal 3400 N. Austin Ave Chicago, IL 60634 Dear Principal, I, like AUSL, am a strong advocate that all children, no matter economic background or cultural background, have the potential to succeed academically. A school is a place for teaching and learning and this can only be done by a group of educators with a strong passion for teaching. When teachers have a strong understanding of their students and create a classroom that is nurturing as well as firm in the expectations that are set, students are being set up for success. Excellence is the standard and cannot and will not waiver for anything. Thank you for taking the opportunity to read my letter of application for a physical education teaching position at an AUSL school. Through my undergraduate and graduate experience, as well as my yearlong residency at Howe School of Excellence, I feel I have never been better equipped to have my own classroom. My yearlong residency has prepared me to be an effective urban teacher. Through intensive observations and my own implementation of AUSLs signature strategies I learned invaluable management strategies and instructional strategies, including strong voice, 100%, behavior management cycle, no opt out, think-pair-share, and positive narration, that have excelled my teaching by leaps and bounds. My goals and philosophy as a future educator are a reflection of the impact my mentors had on me, both from NEIU and AUSL. As a physical education teacher working in an urban school, I will promote physical wellness in my students by instilling in them a desire for physical activity, knowledge of healthy lifestyles, and an understanding of the human body and its systems. Implementing team-building activities that require effective communication, leadership, and decision-making skills will develop teamwork and promote life skills in my adventure education classes. As a coach, I will exemplify a strong work ethic for my players so that they can be dedicated, disciplined, and wise decision makers of the future, which would make for a true winning season. I believe my enthusiasm and dedication to student achievement and developing my craft will make a good fit in your school. I am eager to prove myself through hard work and working as a team with others. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss your schools goals and how I can help you achieve them. Best Regards, Kyriako Cary Anastasiadis Enclosure: Resume
