EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

THE OPPORTUNITY
We propose a system that automates the whole process of providing security and taking attendance and maintaining its records in an academic institute. Managing people is a difficult task for most of the organizations, and maintaining the attendance record is an important factor in people management. When considering academic institutes, taking the attendance of students on daily basis and maintaining the records is a major task. Manually taking the attendance and maintaining it for a long time adds to the difficulty of this task as well as wastes a lot of time.

DESCRIPTION OF THE BUSINESS

THUMBXTECH is a service oriented business. It will fill the gap in Pakistani market by protecting institutions from the terrorist attacks. With the help of this security device people can enter the institution only by giving their thumb impressions on the detector. Every academic institute has certain criteria for students regarding their attendance in class. That is why keeping the accurate record of attendance is very important. At present attendance is usually noted using paper sheets and the old file system, this approach is being used from a long time. It becomes difficult for the management to regularly update the record and manually calculate the percentage of classes attended. Keeping these issues in mind a system is designed to overcome the problems associated with attendance system. Biometric systems have been widely used for the purpose of recognition.

HISTROY
As we know that there are a lot of security problems in Pakistan for the past few years. There is no proper setup for the security of the institutes like educational organizations & the threats given by the terrorists are becoming very much common now a days which is causing great problems for the institutes as well as the parents of the students. By keeping all these problems in mind we six partners found the gap in the Pakistani market and then introduce this service which based on fingerprint security system. We are sure that this system can solve these kinds of problems of the institutes.

COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
We have the first mover advantage in the educational institutes by taking the attendance on the basis of thumb impressions so that the institutes can avoid the proxies and we are also providing quality security service to the institutes which results in the mental satisfaction of the parents and students.

BUSNIESS MODEL
For start up of business, we first import the product from china, the name of the company is Astar3000 because these products are of good quality with low cost. The basic cost of the product is Rs. 25000 with build in software. Then introduce our marketing compagin to gather customer. After attracting customer and introducing product and services in the traget market, we then install product in the relevant companies/institutons along with building software house in the firms in order to provide them services. We hire our own employee for installing these product in a company after that our own team will look after the data process of the system. We collect feedback through surveys via emails/directly deal with the management team.

TARGET MARKET
Due to current situation there will be an opportunity for trendsetters to come up and serve the people of Punjab. For that reason, initially our target market will be the people of Punjab. After

first year of operations, well expand our target market to other provinces depending on the response we get in Punjab. Within Punjab, well be targeting the urban areas because most of the bomb blasts occur in urban areas. Age of the people whom well be targeting will be 4 up to retirement because a child enters into the school in the age of 4 and we first have to protect kids and students of school and colleges along with the employees of different institutions up to their retirement age.

MANAGEMENT TEAM
A strong management team can be a competitive edge for a business. Luckily THUMBXTECH also has a strong management team and all of them have enough experience in their related fields. The management team designation is discussed below IFRA NASIR FAHAD KHAN IMRAN BUTT ADEEL UR REHMAN FARHAN BAQIR ASIM HUSSAIN (Chief Executive Officer (CEO)) (Chief Marketing Officer (CMO)) (Research & Development (R & D)) (Operations Head) (Chief Financial Officer (CFO)) (Human Resource Manager (HRM)

FINANCIAL PROJECTIONS
A business idea is viable at that time when it has the sound financial projection. THUMBXTECH is a start up business so it doesnt have any past financial data. We have made our financial projections by analyzing our competitors. THUMBXTECH is a profit making organization.THUMBXTECH has Six active members and they are the equal equity partners as well. The financial projections show that business is earning profit in five years however this profit is not very huge because the prices of the goods are normal.
COPYRIGHTS RESERVED Page 8

EXIT STRATEGY
Every company has an exit strategy for itself. THUMBXTECH also has an exit strategy that is if this business is not profitable and we are not been able to reach the breakeven then in order to avoid further loss we will wrap up or business and the remaining assets of the business including the security devices will be sold and each partner will get equal share.

THE BUSINESS
THE OPPORTUNITY
Problem to solve and need to be filled Due to the current security issues of Pakistan, we are providing a service for security purpose, which can avoid terrorist attacks and also provide protective environment for the institutions. Other value added features of our service are as following,

It can avoid threats for the universities given by the terrorists. It can also avoid proxies in the classes, so in this manner we can save a lot of time. It can monitor the students during university timings.
We propose a system that automates the whole process of providing security and taking attendance and maintaining its records in an academic institute. Keeping these issues in mind a system is designed to overcome the problems associated with attendance system. Biometric systems have been widely used for the purpose of recognition. These recognition methods refer to automatic recognition of people based on some specific physiological or behavioral features. Biometric systems are basically used for one of the two objectives identification or verification. The proposed system uses fingerprint recognition technique for obtaining students attendance. Human beings have been using fingerprints for recognition purposes for a very long time because of the simplicity and accuracy of fingerprints.

We through our surveys and public relation came to know that there is a gap between the actual performance of the guards and the desired performance which is required by the students/employees. With this technology we can fulfill this gap. The second step is the factor analyses that include a detailed analysis of some of the critical factors like organizational system, institutional support, mental satisfaction, and the facilities, freedom and physical environment. Then comes the solution loop which is actually the solution to the problem/gap identified during the first stage. We enhance the technology and hence solve the problem of students/employees effectively and efficiently.

Description of Porters Model

Threat of substitutes is medium for THUMB X TECH since most of our target market can provide a security purpose. The substitutes or competitors are not in large number that is why threat of substitutes is medium. Threat of new entrants is also medium. Rivalry among existing firms is high because of other security providing firms that are operating in the market. Bargaining Power of Suppliers would be low. Bargaining power of customers is medium.

PEST ANALYSIS
The external macro-environment in which a firm operates can be expressed in terms of the following factors Political Economic Social Technological

THUMBXTECH too operates under the effect of these factors

Economic
The economic arena in which THUMBXTECH will function is not favorable. The economic condition of Pakistan is deteriorating. The major economic challenges facing Pakistan is raising poverty and unemployment, heavy external and domestic indebtedness, high fiscal deficit and low investment. Poor domestic commodity production combined with excess demand and some high import prices have been inferred to cause annual inflation to increase to 15 per cent during 2009-10 and further to 30 per cent in the first quarter of the current year

Technology
In terms of Technological Capabilities variables, Pakistan is placed at 10 (above Bangladesh) for use of computers and third from the bottom (above Nigeria and Bangladesh) for the number of telephone lines and the use of internet

Political
In terms of Political Conditions variables, Pakistan is ranked at 7th for rule of law and is placed at 8th for corruption. Pakistan faces significant structural weaknesses, and are much more likely
COPYRIGHTS RESERVED Page 54

to fail in meeting the projections than those countries whose political and economic conditions are more stable today.

Social
In the social sector too, there is a need for significant improvement. To take the example of security issues in Pakistan, crime rate is increasing every year in Pakistan. Pakistan spent very less amount of money per head on security of each year in 2009. Pakistan was spending even less amount in the early years on the security of individuals. So we can conclude that current situation is not much different for the previous years.

Pricing Strategy
Value Based pricing
Pricing strategy is largely determined by decisions on market positioning sin ce well be positioning our device will have the same features as the most famous product have all over the world, as a device against threats specially for institutional level. CRITICAL RISK ANALYSIS

COPYRIGHTS RESERVED

Page 78

For a new business there are many risks involved that are caused by different factors. The risks that can be faced by THUMBXTECH are as follow: Management Risks Marketing Risks Operational Risks Financial Risks Intellectual Property Infringement

Management risks
As we come with new idea and concept in Pakistan so in future there is possibility anyone of our manager or business partner could be our competitor. As in the THUMBXTECH industry we are first to introduce that concept in Pakistan, we have less trained employees.

Measures to cope up with the risks

We have proper legal documentation with our managers/employees/business partners. We have non-disclosure agreements and no one from within our organization will be our competitor in next 10 years.

Foreign trainers are hired. So we get two way benefits from them. First to make our customers best facilities and second one is to train our local employees.

We shall divide the work between our employees and the security guard of the organization and give them high incentives to motivate them so they coordinate with each other in a proper manner.

COPYRIGHTS RESERVED

Page 79

Marketing risks
As our target market is narrow, so there are chances that our marketing campaign could not reach to our targeted market. Through our marketing program people might not be convinced about measures that we have made. They feel our product are expensive and hence pay no attention towards our promotional campaign.

Measures to cope up with risks

We have planned our marketing very wisely and extensively. Our marketing team directly deals with organizations and tries to convey the need of this security system in todays environment. Flyers and brochures are distributed in our targeted market areas.

Personal marketing and lecture delivering in different educational institutes as well as in different firms and organizations would be effective to make sure employers and heads of the schools/colleges about the security of their employees and students.

Operational risks
As we know the current political situation of our country. Its very bad on security side. So our THUMBXTECH will possibly face security and handling problem.

COPYRIGHTS RESERVED

Page 80

Measures to cope up with the Risks

We have installed CCTV cameras and LCD screen in the entrance of the institutes and firms so in this manner two guards will check the screen whenever a person place his/her thumb on the device. Guards are trained and are from renowned security firm.

Financial risk
As there is global recession and economy is not going so well so its very hard to attract the investors. So we will be unable to generate profits in first five years.

Intellectual Property Infringement

Infringement of intellectual property is also a big risk in any business. Any one of our competitor may copy our business including our trade mark, designs or patents.

Measures to cope up with the Risks

To minimize this risk we have registered our trade mark, designs and patents of the business. If anyone will try to infringe our intellectual property rights then we will have also option to avail legal remedy through which competitor will be restrained to use our trademark, designs or patents.
