It's still basically the same process as in Ruby and Sapphire.

First of all, find a Relicanth (Route 124 and 126 Underwater) and Wailord (Evolve a Wailmer, fished with a Super Rod on Route 129, at lv40). Place them in your active party, along with Pokemon who can Dig, Surf and Dive. Fly to Pacifidlog Town and head west through the fast currents. Stay close to the southern line of rocks that border the route. With enough luck (or careful planning) you should reach a small calm spot in the currents where you can Dive. Do so and follow the chasm down. You'll reach a Braille inscription instructing you to go up, so resurface and you'll find yourself in a cave. Head to the rear of the cave and read the Braille message on the wall. Choose to Dig using your Pokemon and an entrance will open. In this new room, ensure Wailord is the first Pokemon in your party, and Relicanth is the last. Read the Braille message at the back and an earthquake will open the doors to three hidden caves around Hoenn.

REGIROCK Fly to the Route 111 Sandstorm. On the way, you can drop off Relicanth and Wailord and switch them for your regular Pokemon catching team. Also ensure that you have someone who can use Rock Smash. Head into the Sandstorm and work your way to the southern end where you'll see a cave opening. Read the Braille message and take two steps down, then two steps left. Use Rock Smash and the entrance will open. Step through and you'll find yourself face to face with a lv40 Regirock.

REGICE Fly to Dewford Town and head north onto Route 105. Stay close to the west edge of the route and you'll see a Ruin Maniac running up and down the coast of an island. Cross the island and continue west then north to reach the Island Cave. Read the Braille message and then make a full lap around the edges of the cave in a clockwise direction (that is, head right

and go around the cave, sticking to the wall at all times). The entrance will open and you'll find yourself face to face with a lv40 Regice.

REGISTEEL Fly to either Fortree or Lilycove City. Ensure you have someone who can use Flash. Make your way to Route 120's Ancient Tomb, which is quite near to a log bridge over water. The weather is usually stormy around the Ancient Tomb as well, if you would like that as a guide to its location. Enter the cave and read the Braille message. Position yourself in the center of the tomb by standing four steps directly above the door. Use Flash, and the entrance to the rear will open, where you'll find a lv40 Registeel. #382 - Kyogre and #383 - Groudon Stock up on Ultra Balls and make sure one of your Pokemon has Fly, Surf, Dive and Waterfall. This event records the number of steps you take, and if you take too long, the Pokemon will move from its location. This quest opens once you have beaten the Elite Four. Head to the Weather Institute on Route 119. Talk to the scientist upstairs and he will tell you of some oddity at a certain route, so Fly there and search the area for a newly opened cave entrance. You will immediately notice that the local weather will change - this reflects which Pokemon is near. Bright sunlight indicates Groudon's presence, rain and thunder indicates Kyogre's presence. Once you're on the actual route, there are two possible places the entrance could be. At this stage, it appears to be random as to which one you get.

Route 119 #384 - Rayquaza New in Emerald is the availability of Rayquaza before the Elite Four. Once you have summoned Rayquaza to Sootopolis City, head to Pacifidlog Town and surf east. Follow the north border until you find a place where you can head past some rocks and back track. You'll see the beach - follow the path until you reach a huge tower - the Sky Pillar. Once again, the Sky Pillar is full of cracked floors, so ensure you have the Mach Bike with you. Rayquaza comes at lv70 and is one tough customer.

#380 - Latias and #381 - Latios After you have beaten the Elite Four, you will get the option to choose whether you want Latias or Latios. What happens is that when you restart your game and you're in your room, you'll go downstairs where Mom and Dad will talk to you for a while. Your Mom will then lead you over to the TV where she'll ask you something. The two options are Red (the top option) for Latias and Blue (the bottom option) for Latios.

Like before, you will randomly encounter them all over the World Map. A good method of catching them is preventing them from escaping with Mean Look, then whittling down its HP before barraging it with Ultra Balls. If you're lucky enough to be near a Nintendo Event, you can grab yourself an Eon Ticket via a Wonder Spot. You can use this ticket to travel to Southern Island, where the other Lati will attack you when you examine the mysterious egg deep in the forest. So theoretically it is possible to catch both Latias and Latios in Pokemon Emerald. #151 - Mew

Mew can only be obtained via a Nintendo Event giving out the Old Sea Map. This leads you to Faraway Island on the ferry. Once here, head into the forest and you'll spot Mew, who will instantly dash off into the grass. Chase it and corner it, and you'll initiate a battle with a lv30 Mew.

#249 - Lugia and #250 - Ho-oh Both Lugia and Ho-oh can be obtained in Pokemon Emerald via a Mystic Ticket from a Nintendo Event. This ticket allows passage to Navel Rock. Take the left path and follow the ladders up to get to Hooh, take the right path and follow the ladders down to get to Lugia. Once you have caught Ho-oh, examine the tip of the cliff with the Itemfinder to get a Sacred Ash.

#386 - Deoxys Yet another Nintendo Event item allows passage to Birth Island, where solving a simple puzzle will get you the Speed Form of Deoxys. If you have the Aurora Ticket, you can take the ferry to this island where a black triangle will lie in the middle of a field. Upon examining it, it will move. The objective of this game is to get to the triangle in the least number of steps possible, then examine it again. Keep doing so and the triangle will heat up, eventually shattering to summon Deoxys.

Nowadays, in order to get rare Pokemon, Nintendo have devised a slightly different system.

In Gold and Silver, Mystery Gifting was introduced, where you linked with a friend and both of you got an item. In the Advanced Generation, Mystery Gifting is now used to connect with special machines at official promotions or "Nintendo Events". These machines upload certain rare items that you can collect from Teala, the Pokemon Center 2F Attendant. To activate Mystery Gifting, go to any PokeMart and inspect the memo by the counter. A questionnaire will pop up - enter the words "Link Together With All" and the Mart attendant will activate Mystery Gift in your game.
