1. Purpose
This document is to provide information on how to upgrade existing instances of Data Services and information Steward to the latest versions, v4.1. The goal of this document is to assist in the installation of the upgrades.
2. Installation of Upgrades
Prerequisites: The following should be noted before attempting to install the upgrades: Review and document any custom profiler settings in the Data Services Management Console under Profiler Configuration. The upgrades will return all settings to default values; any custom settings will need to be restored after the upgrades are complete. Check-in all work from local repositories into a central repository (if available) prior to backing up repository databases. Back up the user repository database(s) via Oracle backup and a full repository export using SAP tools. Back up all existing Data Services and IPS installation folders.

After the self extractor is complete, the installation screen will appear:

The updater will check the prerequisites necessary for the installation:
After making sure the prerequisites are satisfied, click on "Next" and the Welcome screen will pop up:

Click "I accept the License Agreement" to continue to the "Existing CMS page" :
At this screen enter the Administrator password used to log into IPS (Information Platform Services). After entering the password, click on next to continue the process:

Click on Next to start the update and wait until the process finishes:

After the progress bar is full, the last installation pop up will appear:
Click finish to end the upgrade to IPS 4.0 SP4. After installation restart the machine and proceed to:

After making sure the prerequisites are satisfied, click on "Next" and the Welcome screen will pop up:

After accepting the License Agreement, click 'Next' and the destination window will appear. The path of the files to be installed will be determined by default:

After selecting the preferred language, click 'Next' to the CMS connections page:
Enter the password that is used to log into the CMS server. Usually that password is the same as the one used to log into Information Platform Services or the Business Intelligence platform. After entering the Page 12 of 40
This warning message will pop up as soon as you click 'Next'. All of the SIA nodes and services will need to be stopped and restarted to continue the installation. Anyone using SAP products that use SIA servers that reside in the same environment will need to be notified as this means they will experience a slowdown or will be logged off. This will only last for a few minutes. When you are ready to proceed, click 'Yes.'

Click "Finish" to complete the installation of DS 4.1 SP 0 and restart the machine. Test the installation by logging into the CMC and testing the repository connection. Page 14 of 40

After clicking 'Finish' restart the machine to complete the install. After installation is complete do the following: Page 28 of 40

Log into CMC and test the Repository connections. Update all the previous Repositories to the current version using Data Services Repository Manager. Verify that you can log into Data Services Designer.
If all the above steps are completed with no errors then the installation was successful.

All fields other that "Password" should be filled in by default. Enter the Administrator password. This is usually the same password that is used to log into Information Platform Services or Business Intelligence Platform. Page 33 of 40

Fields other than 'Password' are automatically filled in. Enter the password used to log into the Database Server. Click 'Next' to continue:

Upgrade is the only option allowed for upgrades to Information Steward. Click 'Next' to continue:
Click on 'Next' to start the installation process and wait until the progress bar is full:

3. Post-Installation Actions
After the installation perform the following: Log into the Central Management Console and select 'Applications' from the drop-down menu:

Data Services v4.1 / Information Steward v4.1 Upgrade Click on 'View Data Services Job Server' to see if there is a Job Server associated with Information Steward:
If there is no Job Server shown, then you have to create a Job Server specifically for Information Steward. The 4.1 version does not allow the Information Steward repository to be on the same Job Server as other repositories. Select 'Information Steward' from the drop-down and then select 'Connections':
Double-click on an existing connection to open the 'Update Connection' window and test the connection by clicking on the 'Test Connection' button:

Alternatively, you can right-click on the right panel and select 'New> Connection' to create a connection:
You will need to enter the following to create a new connection (all others can be left as default values): Connection Name Server Name Database Name User Name Password

Verify that you can log into IS by clicking on the IS icon from the start menu (Start> All Programs):
