3 CONFIGURING THE SIP PROXY
To configure your default SIP Proxy, click F8, or from the Main Menu, select System
Settings -> SIP Proxy -> [Default]. The following shows a display of the SIP
Proxy configuration panel from the X-Lite/X-PRO menu system.
Multiple SIP Proxies can be configured in this way to allow you to use one of several
service providers for making or receiving calls.
4 CONFIGURING YOUR NETWORK SETTINGS
To configure your network settings, select System Settings -> Network from the
main menu. The configuration panel for your Network Settings will look as follows:
Note: Some auto-discover settings may not always properly detect network settings,
hence it is recommended that you manually configure these settings before
troubleshooting any X-Lite/X-PRO problems.
Important! If you are behind a NAT firewall, make sure that ports 5060, 8000 to
8020 are open for TCP and UDP. In addition, verify that the SIP proxy server being
used supports NAT Firewall SIP messages.
Also, if you experience one-way audio or no audio upon connection it is likely the
UDP ports are not open in your firewall.
5 INTERPRETING THE USER INTERFACE
X-Lite and X-PRO provide a handy dial pad to quickly dial alpha-numeric numbers
for calls. Most calls will involve numbers and can be dialed directly from the dialpad
or by entering the numbers from your keyboard. As the first few digits of the
number are typed, when the faded number appears, press the TAB key and X-
Lite/X-Pro auto-completes the faded numbers.

SIP Caller ID
Typically, for services such as Free World Dial you would just dial the User Name
number on the Dialpad. For example, to contact the FWD answering machine at
700001 Type in the Dialpad: 700001
6 USING THE SOFTPHONE
With X-Lite/X-PRO you can make calls by dialing on the dial pad or by using the
computer keyboard. At the DialPad, enter a phone number by clicking on the dial
pad number buttons or by typing directly on your PC Keyboard. Click the Call
button, or press Enter to initiate the call.
You need to have X-Lite/X-PRO running to answer an incoming call. When your
computer receives a call, you will hear a ring sound. Simultaneously, the one of the
Line buttons will began flashing and the Caller ID will display the identification of the
calling party. To pick-up (answer) the call, simply press the “green phone” button
(also known as the Dial button) and you will be connected to the calling party.
While you’re on a call in progress, you can place a call on hold simply by selecting
another Line button. The active call is automatically placed on hold and the Line
button flashes to indicate the call is on hold. To resume the call, just re-select the
Line button where the active call is located. Alternatively, you may place a call on
hold by clicking its Line button and resume the call by selecting the same Line
button again.
As with traditional phones, a call is brought to a close when either you or the person
you are talking to actively ends the call. To end calls simply click the Hang-up
button, the “red phone”, at the bottom of the Dial Pad.
If you are on and active call, that call may be transferred to another SIP phone. To
initiate the transfer simply click the Transfer Button on the Dial Pad and then dial
the number you wish to transfer to, then, click the Transfer Button again and the
call is sent to the number dialed.
