 A vagabond is searching for stubs. He
uses 7 stubs to make one cigerette. He
gathers 49 stubs. If he smokes 1
cigerette every 3 hours. How long will
his supply last?

• He will make 7 cigeretters. He will

smoke these for 21 hours. But when
he smokes, he will create one stub
each time. He will create 7 stubs.
Thus he will be able to make one
more cigerette – which he will be able
to use in next 3 hours. He will be able

24 hours.
Two cyclists approach each other on a straight
path. Each is riding @ 15 KM per hour. When
they are 30 Km. apart, one bee hits the first
and goes back towards the second and keeps
shuttling between these two till they meet.
The speed of bee is 20 km p/h. How much
distance does bee travel after meeting the
first cyclist?
• 30 Km gap / (speed of bee 20 + speed of 2nd
cyclist 15) = 51.4 minutes (bee travelled = 17.14
• Now bee will move towards 1st cyclist. The
distance to travel is : (30-25.71) =4.3 km.
• These values are in GP. Formulae for calculating
total distance: A / (1-r) = 17.14/(1-.25)
• =17.14/.75 =22.85 km ans.

 A cube has Red, Blue and Green painted on
opposite faces. Presently red is at the top,
blue is in your front, green is towards your
right. You rotate cube 180 degree vertically
and horizontally (twice). Now which colour is at
the top?

 This cube is cut into smaller pieces of
cubes. The length of new cube is 1/5 of
the old cube. How many cubes do you
have now?
• Let us assume that the side of old
cube is 100. the side of new cube is
20.
• By formulae, number of cubes
obtained is :
(100*100*100)/(20*20*20) = 125 ans.

• From each side of cube, we are able
to get 5*5 = 25 cubes (as per
previous question).
• Red colour is painted on two opposite
sides, so we are able to get 25+25
=50 cubes answer.

any colour painted?
• We have colours on all six sides. From each
of the sides, we have to remove all the
cubes who are at the border. On borders
we have 5*5 = 25 cubes in front and so on.
Some of these cubes are counted on both
the sides. Finally we get 3*3*3 =27 cubes,
which have not on borders, these are the
cubes, which don’t have any colour.
