    KNOWLEDGE IS POWER: Laws in the US take time to be made. There is a lot of misinformation being spread about exactly how quickly immigration reform will come. We have put together a chart so that you can see all the steps that need to happen before a bill becomes a law. On the House side, nothing has been done, that the public knows of, yet. On the Senate side, debate is ongoing on the bill that was debated in the Senate Judiciary subcommittee. We are still far from an immigration reform law and there are many steps where this can still all fail. Stay tuned and stay informed. EL CONOCIMIENTO ES PODER: Las leyes en los EE.UU. toman tiempo para ser hecho. Hay una gran cantidad de desinformación que está dicho sobre exactamente con cual rapidez llegará la reforma migratoria. Hemos preparado un diagrama para que pueda ver todos los pasos que deben pasar antes de que un proyecto se convierte en ley. En la Cámara, nada se ha hecho, que el público sepa, todavía.     BILL IS DRAFTED: Members of Congress, the Executive Branch, and even outside groups can draft (write or draw up) bills. PROYECTO ESTA REDACTADO: Miembros del Congreso, el Ramo Executivo, e incluso grupos externos pueden redactor (escribir proyectos.

    HOUSE Bill is introduced and assigned to a Committee which refers to a Subcommittee. Only members can introduce bills.

SUBCOMMITTEE Members study the bill, hold hearings, and debate provisions. Marks up the bill. If it passes goes to Committee.     FULL HOUSE Debates the bill and may amend it. If it is different from the Senate version, it must go to a Conference Committee. CAMARA COMPLETA Debate del proyecto de ley y puede modificarla.     PRESIDENT Can sign or veto the bill. Congress can override it by 2/3 majority vote in the House and Senate. President can sign the bill, veto it, or do nothing. PRESIDENTE Puede firmar o vetar el proyecto de ley. El Congreso puede anular por voto de 2/3 de la mayora en la Cmara y el Senado. El presidente puede firmar el proyecto de ley, puede vetarlo, o no hace nada.
