The 2nd Continental Artillery Regiment is a group of re-enactors from the Revolutionary War. A Cannon will be on display as well as firearms from that period. Musket firings will take place at different times during the day and several campsites will be set for display with re-enactors in period dress. The 125th NY Regiment Association will be representing the Civil War period. This living history group represents a typical military campsite of 1861 and is chartered with the NYS Education Department. Tents and campsites will be set up. This group will have musket firings during the festival and wooden muskets will be available for children to help the re-enactors do musket drills. The 99th Infantry Division will be representing World War II. A field table, 4-5 pup tents, an ammo box as well as WWII weapons will be on display. Also in Dorr Park will be The Greenwich Town Historian and the Willard Mountain DAR and Northstar organization with information booths and items for sale. HUDSON CROSSING PARK INVITES YOU TO THE RIBBON-CUTTING Ceremony for the new Riverwalk Sensory Trail and the adjacent Alfred Z. Solomon Kayak Launch on Saturday, June 15th beginning at 2:00pm. Hudson Crossing Park, located just off Route 4 north of Schuylerville, will add these two amenities to improve both accessibility and enjoyment for visitors. A 1540 stone dust path along the shore of the Hudson River, the Riverwalk Sensory Trail provides a multi-sensory, immersive, riparian path for visitors to follow as they navigate through the park. Special features are included to enhance the experience for those with mobility and visual impairments, making the trail a unique asset for the greater Hudson Valley community: corduroy wooden strips cross the smooth, wide surface indicating points of interest; hand-cranked listening stations mounted along the trail interpreting the stories of the land and water; life-size sculptures of birds mounted at railing height providing touch-based experiences will soon be added. These enhancements will help to amplify the sights, sounds, touch, and understanding of the surrounding natural area. The Alfred Z. Solomon Kayak Launch, located just south of the Sensory Trail, provides an ideal destination to launch or land your canoe or kayak. Selected with the advisement of local paddlers, the new launch site provides a safe and appealing entry point for excursions along the Hudson, and is easily accessible using a paved path from a roadside drop-off point. These two exciting additions to Hudson Crossing Park support its mission of offering a bi-county public, educational, and recreational destination. Join the park in celebrating the opening of these new attractions, and thanking the many contributors who brought these projects to fruition.
