Your career interest and option.

There are many options available for B.com graduates. The field in which I am interested is banking field. Banking field is very much interesting field and posts which are available for B.com graduates is also very much interesting. This sector offers huge number of employment opportunity to students. Most of the Banks offer a decent pay and secured job to graduates. Some of the openings available to a B.Com graduate in a Bank are Clerical to Probationary officer posts. Most of these banks carry out an entrance test in order to employ qualified candidates. There will also be another round of interview in the recruitment process. As to

apply for the PO jobs, candidates need to have more than 60% of marks. How to prepare for all these exams As to prepare for the government Competitive exams a candidate need to first make his or her basic fundamentals strong. Each of these will have different syllabus and pattern, which the students need to get familiar with. Practice with previous years question papers of different competitive exam in order to be familiar with the pattern. Try to divide the subjects in to various segments and study thoroughly. Also try to complete the subjects which are most familiar and then get better in the weaker subjects. Students can join one of coaching centers near their area to get systematically trained for each of the exam.

Your career plan:

After completing B.com I will do MBA with finance. Since I have much interest in financing area and also it has much scope in future. There will be many opportunity on financing area. While pursuing MBA side by side I am going to fill form for Bank jobs also. As I have much interest in banking field. Its not very difficult because now IBPS declared Common Written Examination for candidates. Which means that from now onwards they will held TWO entrance exams in ONE year for PO (probationary Officer), Clerk. And therefore it is not a difficult task and the price of form is also not so high.
Broad and specific area you are looking

forward: employment/ self-employment/ business/profession etc. Employment Banking is one of the most sought after career choice among the students. It is an entry into a well paid, secure and status career. Though it may appear that these jobs are meant for commerce/economics students but the fact is that majority of bank officers are from different streams of education. Further, it is also not a fact that top positions in Foreign/Multinational Banks are held by MBA's from Premier Management Institutes. Though the Public sector Banks are now appointing management graduates, CAs and CFAs but bright graduates

from any subject can get entry in the Public sector Banks through an All India Examination conducted by them. The emergence of technology-driven new private banks have broadened the scope and range of banking service and entry of Financial Institutions are into the short-term lending business, is resulting in needs for more professionals. Now banks are in the mutual funds, securitisation business credit cards, consumer loans, housing loans, and housing loans besides trading in gold activities. Generally banks look for good communication skills, good interpersonal skills, and the ability to deal with customers, an alert nature, and basic knowledge of the industry. However to join foreign or private sector banks at higher than entry level one needs specialisation in some specific areas. For example expertise in project analysis, credit appraisal skills, managing huge loan portfolios general and foreign exchange and money .Good computer knowledge is always preferred.

There are front office personnel in all banks, and then there are supervisors who handle most back office operations like completion of transactions, general ledger work, and overall supervision. Banks

are now offering good salary packages. Most Public sector officers can begin in the Rs 6000-8000 per month scale. MBAs recruited by private and foreign banks are given plum packages to the extent of about Rs 25000-30000 a month. 2. About the organization you are doing

5 years of prior experience out of which 2 to 3 years as executive assistant/secretary Ability to assume the responsibility without direct supervision & who can exercise initiative & judgment

4.If self-employment option: Theres nothing that stops you from being your own Executive Assistant and, in fact, most self employed people (or those looking to become self employed) already are and they just dont know it yet. Below are a few pointers to help you do it yourself in an efficient and effective way. What does an E.A. actually do? Consider them professional organizers, time managers or simply professional keepers. An Executive Assistant manages day-to-day workflow, organizes and prepares paperwork, establishes priorities, manages incoming correspondence (phone, mail and e-mail), performs general customer care, and thats just the beginning. In general, an E.A. maintains the sanity of your day. A good one can truly act as an alter ego, taking your place in meetings and filling in on tasks when youre unavailable. Being your own E.A. does limit that capability (unless youve already mastered the art of being in two places at once).

How to be your own E.A. in 2 easy steps 1. Schedule a specific period of time every day for performing these tasks. These are the kinds of tasks that are easy to put off, however, once they pile up become a daunting and overwhelming project. Schedule time (generally about an hour) each day (preferably in the morning) to complete the basic office maintenance that your business requires. This may involve filing paperwork, scheduling meetings, sorting through mail, or reviewing and prioritizing task lists. Simply sit down and take care of these things one by one, before you get busy doing business. 2. Utilize tools of the trade. As your own assistant, its critical to develop routines and standard procedures that are rigorously and consistently followed. This will help streamline your daily activities. As an Executive Assistant, I use a variety of detailed checklist to make most activities standardized. For example, when gathering materials for a meeting for my boss, I run through a checklist to make sure he always has the same things with him. Of course, there is some minor tweaking for each meeting, but the basics always remain the same. Taking the time now to standardize your processes will save you time in long run.

5. FUTURE CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS The role of the executive assistant is evolving with the change in competitive market environment and the realization that executive assistant must play a more strategic role in the success of an organization. Organizations that do not put their emphasis on attracting and retaining talents may find themselves in dire consequences, as their competitors may be outplaying them in the strategic employment of executive assistant. With the increase in competition, locally or globally, organizations must become more adaptable, resilient, agile, and customer-focused to succeed. And within this change in environment, the executive assistant has to evolve to become a strategic partner, an employee sponsor or advocate, and a change mentor within the organization. In order to succeed, executive assistant must be a business driven function with a thorough understanding of the organizations big picture and be able to influence key decisions and policies. In general, the focus of todays executive assistant is on strategic personnel retention and talents development. Executive assistant will be coaches, counsellors, mentors, and succession planners to help motivate organizations members and their loyalty. The executive assistant will also promote and fight for

values, ethics, beliefs, and spirituality within their organizations, especially in the management of workplace diversity. 6.Your analysis of the working of the organization. Sahara Credit Cooperative Society is formed to provide financial support to the members. The society accepts deposits from members and grants them loans at reasonable rates of interest in times of need. The cooperative has been developed by 3,800 workers of the Sahara group. According to Sahara, this entity has been running a few schemes for financial inclusion of un-bankable people in rural and semi-urban areas. Sahara India Real Estate Corp and Sahara Housing Investment Corp may have to refund only a part of the money collected under OFCDs, as a significant portion of the deposits have been transferred to the society. The society was launched in April. The transfer of accounts began late April and by May, investors became part of the cooperative society. The account numbers and passbook will remain the same. Since May, only the company name has been changed because the licence has changed. It is now called Sahara Cooperative Credit Society. The company has enrolled most investors under the recurring deposit schemes of OFCDs as members of the cooperative, by paying a fee of Rs 5. Each branch office of Sahara has been given a grant of Rs 5,000 to pay the membership fee. Sahara agents will now peddle several new investment schemes to raise money under the name Sahara Credit CoOperative Society. The society has its headquarters and registered office in Sahara India Bhawan, Lucknow, where most Sahara group entities are based.

According to the application forms for the schemes, Sahara Credit Cooperative Society is registered under and any disputes are to be settled under The Multi-State Cooperative Societies Act, 2002. An amendment Bill was introduced in the winter session 2010 to update the Act. Societies registered under it are governed by the Central Registrar of Co-operative Societies. Being a credit cooperative society, the entity will also be governed by RBI rules, 7.Road map of your career plan Mention where you would be in the ladder of your career:
Within 5 years

"My dream job would include all of the responsibilities and duties in this position you're trying to fill. I also thrive in a fast-changing environment where there's business growth. In five years I will do my MBA with finance with good marks so that I can attend all campus that will come in the last year of MBA. Side by side I will give exams of bank which is my favourite field in making my future.
Within 10 years

"In ten years I hope to be working with in an increasingly responsible position, which enables me to utilize my talents and work closely with my colleagues in solving important problems. I see myself taking on new and exciting challenges in an enjoyable environment and hopefully this will be with your company."

Within 20 years

I dont have a specific plan I would like to advance. However I am flexible. I will do my job that I will pursue at that time to the best of my ability and keep my eyes open for opportunities within the organization to advance even if it means changing roles. I will prepare to learn new things and contribute to the overall success of the organization in a number of ways. The only specific within that plan to willingness is that the opportunity is within my ability to learn, interesting enough for me to dig in and do a good job and the compensation increase a reasonable amount in relation to the demand of the position.

introduction An executive assistant holds a key role in the management of an organization, by acting as a support and helper to the executive mangers. Executive are crucial for every firm and almost every firm hires an executive assistant, who carries out various executive and administrative responsibilities. Office management, customer handling, library management, supervisory tasks, etc. are some of the areas where an executive assistant is recruited. The executive assistant may be required to work within time constraints and often under pressure. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are the prerequisites for the executive assistant job.

Task allotted in first week

Since this was starting of my training period and therefore not very much difficult work was assigned to us. On first week I have to attend the visitors

coming over there and try to make them comfortable and also to give detail about Sahara credit cooperative society working procedures and what is the process of a particular work which they want to know. In this work they gave me necessary detail; about their organization which is necessary to attract visitors. Starting time I felt much hesitation because my communication skills was not so good but after communicating with the visitors my hesitation removed and also I was able to make them understand about the company. Since the main role of executive assistant is that he/she should have good communication skills. Not only for executive assistant also while applying for any other job we should have good communication skills and therefore which was very helpful to me.

Task allotted in second week

In second week the task which was assigned to me is to attend telephone calls. While doing this work there is not much problem comes on my way since during first week also I have to attend visitors and in this work also I have to communicate with the people and therefore its very easy for me to complete the task which was allotted to me.

Task allotted in third and fourth week

Task allotted to me during third week is to write letters with a good handwriting and also I have to use short hand typing during writing letters. And thus I found it much difficult to write letter. My writing was not so good and also not so good and I am not perfect in shorthand typing. So it was very difficult for me to write letter in good speed. I took the pages in which all short form of words is written and then I tried to use it in my letter. I was not perfect

in this and thus it takes two week to complete this task. And finally during the fourth week speed of writing letters was good and with some shorthand typing.

Task allotted in fifth week

Task allotted to me in fifth week is to keep accounts .Keeping accounts of an organization is a very important work and once has to do that work with much concentration any mistake in any transaction will result in deleting the whole matter and again have to write. During making account records i had to be very careful and I concentrate fully on making records. Its a very difficult task and also very responsible. Any wrong entering will result in a big problem. So at the time of making accounting records I didnt talk to anyone and fully concentrate on my work. My typing was also not so good and because of this I found it very difficult to found words and do it in a fast speed. Starting time I had to work hard on that but doing again and again it was into my habit and as a result the typing speed of mine was also improved.
Task allotted in sixth week

Task allotted to me in sixth week is of computer proficiency. In this time period they give me training of basics of computers which is not only useful in becoming executive assistant but also in any other job. As now a days computer is the main part of most of the job and one should have at least basic knowledge about computer. He told me basics about ms-word, PowerPoint, excel which is very important. I found it very much interesting in doing. He explained me only once and I understood it perfectly. I make use of each and every thing and tried to understand the use of it with my own. At the end of the week I understood the basic of computer because in my home also there is a computer and I make use of it and work on it for hours and hours.

Task allotted in seventh week

In seventh week task which was allotted to me is to keep records of meetings and proceedings and inform to each and every one who has to attend the meeting. Generally employee who for some or other reason does not able to attend the meeting give information about their absence to me only and therefore it is the duty of mine to give information about the employee before starting of a meeting. Sometimes I forgot to convey the information and thus result in scolding.

Task allotted in eight week

Since it was my last week of internship and thus much work was not assigned to me. In the eight week the task allotted to me is to take dictation of short hand typing of other employees who are working in an organisation so that they can become perfect in this. Most of the work of Sahara credit cooperative society is done on short hand typing since the time is less and the work are more and thus short hand typing plays a very important role.

Conclusion

Application of classroom learning

during internship. An internship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Internships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths To ensure that an experiencewhether it is a traditional internship or one conducted remotely or virtually all the following criteria must be met: 1. The experience must be an extension of the classroom: a learning experience that provides for applying the knowledge gained in the classroom. It must not be simply to advance the operations of the employer or be the work that a regular employee would routinely perform. 2. The skills or knowledge learned must be transferable to other employment settings. 3. The experience has a defined beginning and end, and a job description with desired qualifications. 4. There are clearly defined learning objectives/goals related to the professional goals of the students academic coursework. 5. There is supervision by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of the experience. 6. There is routine feedback by the experienced supervisor. 7. There are resources, equipment, and facilities provided by the host employer that support learning objectives/goals.
Internship Program

The Lang internship program provides high-quality, supervised professional work experiences for academic credit. Students prepare for

full-time employment or graduate study by participating in a range of activities designed to facilitate professional growth and development, skill acquisition, and job search techniques. During their internship students participate in a seminar and document their internship activities using evaluative forms, time sheets, and journal assignments.
How did internship help you towards planning your career goal?

Internships have become an important part of a college student's education. Through internships students gain experience in different fields, test career interests, establish contacts that can assist with networking, and receive letters of recommendation from professionals in the field. Internships can make a sizable contribution to every student's resume.

The Benefits of Internships Transitioning from college to career can be intimidating. Many graduates struggle to identify the right career path or find themselves getting lost in the competitive job market. Completing an internship or several - while you're in school can help you get an edge on this process. Dream Job There aren't very many people who start school with a 'dream job' already in mind. Internships can help you narrow your professional

focus by giving you the opportunity to explore different fields and different positions. Write down a list of your interests, and then meet with your school's career counsellor to find out what types of internships may be available to you in those areas. Try to pursue a couple of very different opportunities in order to really get a feel for your options. In addition to these benefits, internships act as a way for students to gain experience without committing themselves permanently to a specific field. It is common for students to major in a particular area of study, but then, having done an internship in that field, decide the field is not right for them. Internships allow students who do not know exactly what they want to do to, work in different fields with the hope of finding a job they really enjoy. For other students internships confirm their interest in a particular course of study and reinforce their career goals.
Brief overall conclusion

As two months flew by, my internship just concluded with effect from today. I am glad to have undergone this internship because it taught me a few important things and also got me to explore my own interests. Some of you may be wondering why there is no posting throughout the duration of my internship and part of the reason is time. My working

hours during internship is pretty long and by the time I reached home, I often just check my emails and do a bit of personal work before I head off to bed. The other part of the reason is because I just felt like taking a break from blogging and to think through what I want to do upon graduation. There are many areas which I have an interest towards but I would have to commit to a specific role sooner or later. After reading many risk management documents and policies, I think that I am slightly more inclined to prefer that route. Initially, I did not really know that it is a highly competitive role, but from my chatting sessions with my supervisors, it appears that risk management is super competitive and consequently extremely challenging to enter. Nevertheless, I believe that risk management suits me more compared to other more glamorous roles like trading or investment banking. Part of the reason being that I have specific skills which can contribute to the role such as my programming capabilities, which I have built up for quite a long period of time since my diploma days. The other part of the reason is purely due to an interest in the area, which also explains why I dug around risk management documents and read them for fun. Anyway, my internship taught me a lot of things and I also got to meet a lot of nice people. Somehow, I feel really lucky that I always get to work

under nice bosses and that makes everything a whole lot easier and happier. All of the colleagues in the team had also helped me one way or another either through my work or to create a better work environment. Contrary to my initial expectations, I totally enjoyed my internship and also learnt a lot of things. Lastly, I have a few things to embark on full-time and I am still in the process of prioritising which to focus on and may be dropping some load off my back. It is hard to make a decision when my interests are so varied, but I still have some time left to decide. For now, I need to clear up all the pending issues that have been left behind when I was doing my internship. My internship ends, but more work is coming.
