Standard of Competence
4. Understanding the properties of acid base solution, the measurement method and its application

Basic Competency
4.1 Describing the acid base theories by determining the solutions properties and calculating the solutions pH.

Indicator
1. Identifying the properties of acid-base solution with various indicators. 2. Predicting the pH of unknown electrolyte solution based on observation result of the color changing trajectory of various acid-base solution Identify the properties of this acid-base solution and predict its pH!

Identify the properties of this acid-base solution and predict its pH !

Materials : Universal indicators paper Blue litmus paper Red litmus paper HCI 0,1 M solution H2SO4 0.1 M solution CH3COOH 0,1 M solution H3BO3 0.1 M NaCl 0.1 M NaOH 0,1 M solution

Equipments : Pipettes Test tube Test tube rack

Procedure: 1. Take 1 ml of each solutions that will be identified and measured the pH than put each solution into test tubes. After that, take each solution using pipettes about 5 drops and put into plat. Give symbol or label in every hole of plat of each solutions. 2. 3. Take the cutting universal indicators paper and dip the side into each solution in plat. Look at the changing color. Match the color of universal indicators paper from activity 2 with standard colors are there in the pack of universal indicators paper than read its pH scale. Repeat the experiment by using

blue litmus paper and red litmus paper. Observe the changing colour of blue litmus paper. Observation Result : Complete the following table of observation data! No. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6.
