LUBRICATION The engine is lubricated by oil mixed with the fuel. The manufacturer recommends using one quart of snowmobile oil to 5 gallons of regular gasoline (20:1). Suspension wheels (bogie wheels) are equipped with pressure fittings and should be lubricated after each 50 hours, or oftener under adverse driving conditions. Steering linkage and handlebar bushing should be lubricated

twice a month using low temperature type grease. Chaincase lubricant should be checked at least once a week. ADJUSTMENT STEERING SKIS. Steering skis should be parallel with each other and with vehicle frame when handle bar is in normal straight driving position.

DRIVE CHAIN. The roller drive chain should have approximately ?4-V4 inch free play measured midway between sprockets. The need for adjustment can be determined by rocking the driven pulley and noting free movement (backlash). Adjustment is made by loosening the locknut on adjusting bolt (AFig. 1) and moving the bolt in slotted hole. If bolt bottoms in slot before correct adjustment is obtained, remove the bolt 27

BRAKE. The caliper type disc brake uses driven pulley fixed face as a braking surface. First make sure brake is properly aligned, then apply brake while retightening anchor bolts. Brake adjustment should normally be made by tightening the actuating lever stud nut until brake pucks lightly contact sheave face, then backing off 1/6 turn. BELT ALIGNMENT. The torque converter drive belt can be adjusted, if necessary, by loosening the engine mounting bolts and sliding engine to align belt. To check the alignment, slightly separate the driven sheave and insert a 14-inch spacer between sheave halves; then using a straightedge, align right edge of both pulleys. TRACK. To adjust track tension, raise machine until track is clear, then measure clearance between track and center bogie wheels. Clearance should be 1-inch; or just enough to allow hand to slip into opening. Adjust by loosening clamp screws (1Fig. 2) and turning adjusting bolt (2) as required. Both sides must be adjusted alike.

and reinstall in optional hole (2) which will have appeared in opposite end of slot. Tighten locknut securely when correct adjustment is obtained. Brake alignment may need to be corrected after drive chain is adjusted. Loosen the two brake unit anchor bolts and fully compress brake lever on handlebar. Retighten anchor bolts while holding brake applied. Readjust brake if necessary.

NOTE: Whenever track tension has been adjusted, alignment MUST be checked as outlined in TRACK SERVICE Section of this manual.

OVERHAUL Refer to the appropriate paragraphs in GENERAL SERVICE sections of this manual for overhaul specifications and procedures.
