Weekly Outline:
Activity session subject : Animals Part 2 Vocabulary: animal, lion, tiger, bear, shark, whale, penguin, koala bear, panda, elephant, giraffe, kangaroo, wolf, cow, horse, sheep, goat, hen, chicken, pig, duck, goose, rabbit, cat, dog, fish, bird, farm, run, walk, swim, jump, hop, crawl, big, small Sentence structure(s): Question: What is it? Response: It is a (tiger). What sound does it make? Question: What animal do you like? Response: I like (a bear). Question: Is it a big animal or small animal? (show picture of an elephant) Response: It is a big animal (Both of these stories include a dvd we will be watching and listening to as well.) Games: Fly swat game: animal flashcards will be placed on the board. Teacher will call out and animals and students have to run to the board and tap the correct flashcard. Guess who (using animal sounds) Hop like a Rabbit, Fly like a Bird: students will stand in a circle and walk around the room. Teacher will call out an animal and students have to move accordingly. Activities / songs / games: Songs: In the Jungle Elephant Medley Were going on a lion hunt Monkey see and monkey do Old MacDonald Activities: Paper plate lion Animal mask/headband Reading time: Going on a Bear Hunt Walking through the Jungle

Phonics
This week in phonics we will be introducing and practicing the next set of sounds. Sounds include jjj, zzz, www, vvv, yyy , xxx. This will be practiced through the Jolly Phonics songs, flashcards and interactive classroom games.

Review
This week we will continue to review animals, colours and fruit. We will combine the three different topics. For example, I will ask what animal is it. When the student answers correctly, I will then ask what colour it is. Finally, I will lay out fruit flashcards and students will then match up the fruit the teachers says with the animal they have. Vocabulary includes: animal, cow, horse, sheep, goat, hen, chicken, pig, duck, goose, rabbit, cat, dog, fish, bird, farm, run, walk, swim, jump, hop, crawl, apple, orange, banana, mango, papaya, pineapple, strawberry, cherry, kiwi, pear, dragon fruit, mangosteen, rambutan, red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, brown, white, grey, black.

Dear parents, thank you for sending in fruit last week to complete our fruit theme. We made a delicious fruit salad. Continue practicing animals with your child. Here are a few more videos to watch to practice the different songs and animals learned. When the different animals appear on the screen ask your child what animal it is.
