MGRLS VENTURI WET SCRUBBER


Introduction:
Manufacturing factories are equipped with bagasse / coal / lignite / husk fired boilers, using Bagasse/ coal / husk as fuel with 20 60% moisture. Huge quantity of burnt bagacillo and partially un-burnt Fly Ash generated in boiler escapes in the gases into open air. The impact of this pollution is quite detrimental to human life and could cause significant damage to the Environment. Various Sugar factories & Distilleries had installed MGRLs Venturi type Wet Scrubber on Bagasse fired Boilers. MGRLsVenturi Wet Scrubber is proved to be the most efficient, Scientific and due to its computer aided design consumes less power, gives trouble free operation, low priced and gives excellent performance.

Construction:
The system consists of : 1. Venturi 2. Plenum Mist Chamber 3. Injection Entry 4. Scrubber Shell 5. Seal Tank 6. Wall Washing arrangement, to minimize the entrainment of dust in the gas. 7. Recirculating / slurry pumps 8. Piping, Valves, interconnecting ducting (i.e. scrubber outlet to ID fan inlet).

The Wet scrubber can be congenitally located between air heater and ID Fan (preferably before ID Fan to improve the life of impeller due to absence of Fly Ash, Grit, Sand particles in clean gas).

Working:
100% Flue Gas from the Boiler / Air Heater is taken into the Venturi of Wet Scrubber where at the same time, the water is also added in such a fashion that, it meets head-on contact with incoming flue gas from top portion and water from side of Venturi. The water fills in Venturi trough, overflows on Cone (Venturi Part) while Gas entering from top gets mixed in plenum mist chamber where the water is absorbed by the Fly Ash burnt and unburnt. (The Fly Ash can absorb six times of water by its weight). The mixture of Gas (air), Fly Ash (Solid) and Water (liquid), in very dense phase (like cloud) is injected at high velocity in to Scrubber Shell in Cyclonic motion by Injection Entry. The sudden drop in velocity immediately after entry in Scrubber causes quick separation of Slurry (heavier fly ash with water) and air from mixture. The further scrubbing of flue gas is carried out by way of Wall Water Washing Scrubbing Arrangement, for complete cleaning of gas to arrest finest particles, if escaping in flue gas. The temperature drop of flue gas across MGRLsVenturi Wet Scrubber does not exceed 25-30 degree, which is much lesser in comparison to any other Fly Ash Arrestor. The pressure drop across Wet Scrubber does not exceed 65-70 mm, which is much lesser in comparison to any other Fly Ash Arrestor. In fact, the power consumption is also noticed reduced, due to ID Fan handling flue gas with almost negligible concentration of fine particles in the clean gas after passing through Venturi Wet Scrubber.

The exhaust emission level from 6000 mg/NM3 is very well brought down to less than 100 mg/NM3 by installation of Venturi Wet Scrubber. This limit is much below the exhaust emission level set by the Pollution Control Board / Authority. The Fly Ash Slurry is collected by gravity in the Seal Tank and the clean air is discharged from top, to chimney through ID Fan. The heavy slurry is again passed through Gravity Settler / Clarifier, (Which is optional for less manual work) which helps in separating 60 - 70% ash in the form of thick slurry at the bottom of clarifier. This wet thick slurry can be loaded directly into trolley for disposal after passing them through Vibro Screen ( Please refer G.A. drawing sent along with this).

Now underflow from Vibro Screens is passed to Baby Ash Pit / Sludge drying bed for further separation of fine particles of ash (less than 200 microns) which settles down on layers of sand. Here dry ash separated above the layers of sand can be clean out manually by labors at repeated interval. The system does not require any extra Static Pressure, Power and is very much suitable to the existing ID Fans. Never the less, its a complete solution for Fly Ash Problem, spreading all over the Plant, causing a critical damage to our mother nature and creating Shear Nuisance in day to day working. The Fly Ash slurry can be conveniently disposed off.
