    October 2010

    SWISS sets October passenger record


    Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) carried a total of 1 334 099
    passengers in October 2010, a record for the month since the
    companys foundation. The result was also a 4.5% increase on the same
    month last year (2009: 1 276 491).
    SWISS also raised its volumes of services operated for the month. The
    11 010 flights performed in Europe were 3.5% up on the prior-year
    period (2009: 10 638); and the 1 372 intercontinental services operated
    were a 6.9% increase on the same month last year (2009: 1 283). All in
    all, SWISS operated 12 382 flights in the month, 3.9% more than the
    11 921 of October 2009.
    Systemwide seat load factor for October stood at 86.5%, broadly
    unchanged from its prior-year level (2009: 86.2%). Seat load factor for
    SWISSs European network rose 0.9 percentage points to 79.2%; and
    intercontinental seat load factor remained stable at 90.2% (2009: 90.5%).
    SWISS WorldCargo posted another high cargo load factor (by volume)
    for the month. The 82.7% recorded was a 4.6-percentage- point
    improvement on the corresponding figure for October 2009.
