Walk deep into the rainforest with your guide and discover the nature and wildlife of the area. Take a full-days trek to the summit of Mt. Batukaru. Cycle from the slopes of the Mountain right down to the west coast of Bali.

Day 1: Mount Batukaru Arrival


Your guide will meet you and take you deep onto the slopes of Mount Batukaru. Your base for this adventure will be the fabulous Sarinbuana Ecolodge, surrounded by tropical plantations. Its handcrafted bungalows are located 750 meters up the mountain and give amazing views of its peak and southern Bali. The lodge has its own organic gardens; and when you arrive you will be served lunch prepared with produce from the garden. Your afternoon is free at leisure. If you wish, you can choose an afternoon class: -Balinese massage -Making Balinese table decorations. -Cooking class -Calligraphy Dinner at the lodge in the evening. Overnight at Sarinbuana Ecolodge. Meals included on this day: Lunch and Dinner

Day 2: Mount Batukaru Rainforest Walk


Today take a three hour trek deep into the rainforest with your guide. Pass a host of flora and fauna, including coffee plants, vanilla and tropical fruits. Keep your eyes peeled for the wildlife of the rainforest, which includes crabeating macaques, porcupines, civet cats and wild deer.
At midday, head back to the lodge for a delicious lunch. The rest of the day is free at leisure. If you fancy a relaxing massage after your walk, one can be arranged. Overnight at Sarinbuana Ecolodge.

Day 3: Day Trek to Mt. Batukaru


Ascend stunning Mt. Batukaru today on a full-day trek. We will head off after breakfast and make our way under the shade of the rainforest canopy towards higher ground. The area is filled with wildlife which your guide will help you to discover. The ecosystem begins to change as you continue upwards. Take a picnic lunch by a mountain stream before beginning the final part of the ascent. The last hour is a little steeper, and you should get through the forest cover and to the summit around midday. You will be at 2,200 meters now; from where you can take in magnificent, panoramic views of the entire island. Afterwards, make your way back down, returning to the lodge in the late afternoon. Note: this is a fairly demanding trek, and is not recommended for children under 10 years old. Overnight at Sarinbuana Ecolodge. Meals included on this day: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Day 4: Mount Batukaru-West Coast Departure


Check out from the lodge after breakfast and begin a cycling journey from the slopes of the Mountain right down to the west coast of Bali. Passing rice fields and local villages you will coast down to the flat lands and finally reach the black sandy beach. Once at the beach, relax and enjoy a picnic lunch.

Afterwards, you will be transferred by private car to the airport or to your hotel.

Credit cards are widely accepted at tourist places. Electricity: 220V and 110V and we recommend bringing a universal plug adaptor. Climate: Dry from June to September. Monsoon season from December to March brings heavy but short downpours. Highland areas are cooler than the beaches. Temperatures generally are between 25-30C. Suggested Reading: Eat, Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert, Gifts of Unknown Things by Lyall Watson, The Real Taste of Indonesia by Hardy Books Cuisine: Indonesian food is as diverse as its islands and influenced by its diverse historic trading roots. Try the national dishes Nasi Goreng, Gado-Gado and Sate, usually served with rice. Health: Travellers should be inoculated against typhoid, cholera, hepatitis A & B, tetanus and polio. Malaria and Dengue Fever are present in Indonesia and it is advisable to take precautions. It is essential to have a good medical insurance that covers the cost of an evacuation flight. Tipping: Not expected but always appreciated in Indonesia, its customary though to tip tour guides and drivers. Water: Dont drink tap water and ice cubes should not be consumed in simple street stalls/ restaurants. Visas: Most visitors to Indonesia need a visa to enter the country. Most nationalities can get a visa on arrival at international air and seaports. 2 passport photos are required.

Mobile Phones: 3G and SIM cards are widely available and an inexpensive way to make local and international calls. Note high charges may apply if using roaming services. Clothing & What to Pack: Comfortable, casual lightweight clothing in natural fabrics such is suitable for travelling in Indonesia. During the winter months, bring warmer clothes if travelling to higher altitudes. Dress modestly and dont wear shorts or tank tops when visiting religious buildings, and shoes should be removed before entering a private home. Wear a sarong and waist sashes when visiting temples which are provided.

Safety: Indonesia is generally a safe country to visit though never leave your belongings unattended and beware of touts in tourist areas.
