NEPAL TREKKING INFORMATION

The best way to experience Nepals unbeatable combination of natural beauty and cultural riches is to walk through them. One can walk along the beaten trails or virgin tracks. Either way you are in for an experience for a lifetime. Along with forests of rhododendron, isolated hamlets, and small mountain villages, birds, animals, temples, monasteries and breathtaking landscapes, you will also encounter friendly people of different cultures offering a fascinating glimpse of traditional rural life. Trekking is possible any time of the year depending on where you are going. The popular seasons are spring and autumn. During winter, trekking is possible at lower altitudes. During the monsoon season, you can trek in the rain shadow areas north of the Himalayan like Mustang, Upper Manang and Dolpo. These places are out of reach of the rain clouds because of the high mountains and are unaffected by the monsoon. The best part about trekking in this season is that the routes are less crowded and if you happen to be a keen botanist, you will revel in lush vegetation as meadows blossom in full swing. To ensure quality service and safety, it is advisable to make the trekking programs through a government recognized trekking agency. TEA HOUSE TREK A trek hiring guide and porters, accommodations and meals (BLD) in local lodges as well as restaurants and guesthouses is categorized as teahouse trek. To do such kind of treks seem impossible to all regions throughout the country except Annapurna, Langtang & Everest region. CAMPING TREK The trek in which, we do not use hotels, lodges and guest houses for accommodation and restaurants for food, is called camping trek. This kind of trek we use tent for accommodation and food also prepared by our own kitchen staffs at our tent camp during trekking.

Long isolated from the outside world, Mustang is one of the few places in the world that was, until recently, inaccessible to tourists. This isolation has helped the people of Mustang to maintain a way of life almost unchanged for centuries. Hidden behind the Himalayasn giants of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, it is considered to be a restricted area where a special trekking permit is required through a registered trekking agency. Mustang was the self-ruled independent kingdom of the Lo-people until the end of the18th century. However, it is also an integral part of Tibetan civilization especially for the Buddhist sect of Shakyapa. This is one of the prominent pre-historic areas housing the only fossils of sea-creatures from millions of years ago when the Himalayas was under the sea of Tethis. These fossils are found in the bank of the Kaligandaki River. Other archaeological remains found here are preserved in the eco-museum of Jomsom and other museums of the country. Historic caves are found in almost all the villages here. Some of these caves still house artifacts that are believed to be from the prehistoric humans of the Stone Age. Medieval Buddhist monasteries here preserve the amazing art, architecture and religious monuments of Tibetan art and religious history. Few mountains in the world rival the grandeur of Mount Kailash (6714m), the famed holy peak in Western Tibet. Kailash has long been an object of worship for four major religions. For the Hindus, it is the domain of Shiva. It is also the abode of Samvara-a multi armed, wrathful deity worshipped in the Chakrasamvara Tantric cycle of Tibetan Buddhism. The Jains of India also revere the mountain as the site at which the first of their saints emancipated. And in the ancient Bon religion of Tibet, Kailash was the sacred nine storey Swastika Mountain, upon which the Bonpo founder Shenrab alighted from heaven. Sprawling below Mount Kailash is the sacred Lake Manasarovar (4560m), where a ritual bath will deliver a pilgrim to Brahmas paradise and a drink of its water relinquishes the sins of a hundred lifetimes. The 53 km Kailash circuit is the holiest of all Tibets pilgrimages and the beacon that draws most travelers to Western Tibet. It is said that a Single Parikarma erases the accumulated sins of a lifetime, while 108 parikrama will achieve Salvation. On the 15th day of the 4th Tibetan month is Saka Dawa Festival. The day is believed to be the day when Sakyamuni was born, step into Buddha hood and attained salvation. Tibetans believe that one merit equals myriads of merits accumulated the other days. People keep from killing animals, refrain from eating meats and liberate animals. Sutra chanting, prayer turning, Cham dancing and other religious activities dominate the session. Offering sacrifices to the female deity enshrined in the temple on the islet of the Dragon King Pond, boating in the pond and picnicking add more festive mood.

LADAKH

In 9th century the great-grandson of the contemporary Tibetan King fled to Ladakh escorting with his 1000 soldiers due to the invasion of Tibet by Chinese King. He eventually got married with the princess of Ladakh and their son got started ruling over the different parts of its kingdom. Ladakh has long been known as Little Tibet as well as called Centre of Asian Diamond. After an annexation of China the Monastic Buddhism has been most relevant and important for both Buddhist and non-Buddhist world. The sprawling sandy valley, the plains at the elevations between 3000m to 4550m. not only occupied by the nomadic people but also huddled by the small hamlets is the main inspiring phenomena for the travelers.
