INTRODUCTION

Early pre-modern accounts of flight are in most cases sketchy and it is unclear whether each craft was a glider, kite or parachute and to what degree they were truly controllable. In its simplest form, a glider is an unpowered aircraft, an airplane without a motor. While many of the same design, aerodynamic and piloting factors that apply to powered airplanes also apply to gliders, that lack of a motor changes a lot about how gliders work. Gliders are amazing and graceful machines, and are about as close as humans can get to soaring like birds. The gliders name is Whitebird. In order to invent the glider, the following preparation and procedures should be followed. 2.0 PREPARATION 2.1 The Design of Glider DESIGN A Balsa Wood Glider The design of Wingspan is big, thus lift created will be huge.Besides the fuselage is thinner and it will reduce the drag and friction.

DESIGN B Foam Jet II The design of the Fuselage is bigger thus the glider stability is much higher.

Bat Glider The stabilizer design follow

aerodynamic shape and can reduced friction and drag.

Every single glider has its own special design that allows them to freely fly. First, you have taken Balsa Wood Glider tail design because its design is simple, nice and easy thus the time to build the tail is shorter which allows you to allocate more time in designing the glider. Then, the material for the glider is taken from the Foam Jet II because it uses recycle foam which is more easier for the process of building our glider and softer to cut it into pieces according to the design. Lastly, you have taken one feature from the Bat Glider that uses a rod as the body and does not need modification for the aerofoil shape.

25c m

Step 1 (WING) : Measure the span and the chord for the wing by using triangle and mark the measurement by using marker pen. Measurement for the wing: SPAN 55 cm , CHORD 25 cm. (Refer to the picture above for measurement). Cut the polysterene by using pen knife into 2 pieces for left and right wing. Cut the 2 pieces of wing through the shape that has been measured.

Step 2 ( FUSELAGE ) :
75 cm

Combine 2 pieces of woods. Stick them together by using masking tape. Fuselage measurement: LENGTH 75 cm

Step 3 ( RUDDER ) :

Draw a square with WITDH 10 cm

LENGTH 15 cm X

Measure the rudder into the triangle shape by using T-shape ruler and mark it by using marker pen.
15 cm

Cut it into the shape that have been measured by using pen knive.

10cm

Rudder measurement: LENGTH 15 cm X WIDTH 10 cm .

Step 4 ( STABILIZER ) : Draw 2 square for left and right stabilizer. Draw a curve by using french curve. Cut the polysterene into the shape of stabilizer.

Step 5 ( COMBINATION ) : Place the left and right wing on the both side of the fuselage at the 4 inch before the tip of the wood. Tape both wing together with the fuselage by using masking tape. Use wood stick to combine the left and right wing. Make sure the combination has high strength and properly tape. Tape the stabilizer and the rudder together on to the fuselage by using masking tape. Tape all of the components nicely until it looks like a glider as shown above. Tape a 3 recycle batteries on the tip of the glider to assist it to glide properly and then become Whitebird.

Result:Your Whitebird is ready fly.The mission is accomplished.

4.0 CONCLUSION The Whitebird has been successfully invented. Flight test is needed to be done to ensure the ability of Whitebird. The test will be based on the distance, timing and the stability of the glider. Test 1 Distance:-

ADVANCED AVIATION ENGLISH

Location of testing is Putera Hostel, block 4.The height of the launch place must be high, the more height the good the result. The forecast distance is 6m.

Test 2 Stability:The test need you to let go of the glider at yourself height. If it is stable,it will not tend to drop earlier whether left or right side.

Test 3 Timing:The more the time, the more distance you will get.Estimated time is 1 minute. If your glider can glide more than estimated time, your glider is very stable and light.
