Leadership and Corporate AccountabilityIndia examines the dynamic and everevolving role of accountability in the 21st century Indian corporation. Focusing on strategic governance, this program uses case studies involving Indian and global companies to explore methods of managing the demands of external and internal stakeholders. A particular emphasis will be paid to case studies of leaders managing companies ethically and profitably in the context of widespread public corruption. Harvard Business School in India As part of Harvard's mission to build a truly global university, HBS has been cultivating stronger and deeper connections with India's business environment for more than a decade. Our engagement in this region, initiated with case studies focused on companies operating in India, has gradually expanded to include development initiatives for faculty in India, specialized education programs, analysis of local business challenges through the India Research Center, and a new state-of-the-art classroom at the Taj Lands End in Mumbai. Now, more than ever, HBS is committed to fostering a worldwide exchange of knowledge that will drive economic growth for years to come in India and around the world. What You Can Expect In this interdisciplinary program, you will examine strategic governance tools interactions with stakeholders inside and outside the companyas well as frameworks that business leaders can use to promote responsible and profitable corporate conduct. You will analyze how the latest research in economics, law, psychology, and organizational behavior can help you make decisions and define your leadership. Your Course of Study Through examination of both regional and global case studies as well as in-depth discussions with faculty and peers, you will investigate tools and techniques for interacting with stakeholders effectively. How can you apply a decision framework to analyze your economic, legal, and ethical responsibilities? What are the basic elements of an effective system of strategic corporate governance? What basic internal and external governance tools can you use to ensure your organization and its members make good on their responsibilities?
How can you test your decisions for integrity and objectivity? Are there fundamental principles for business conduct? How will you meet your responsibilities in the face of time pressure, uncertainty, and hostile circumstances?
